CLAIM: On March 20, 2023, the Texas Tribune claimed the AR-15 was the U.S. infantry rifle used by soldiers during the Vietnam War. VERDICT: False. The U.S. infantry rifle was an M-16, a rifle with a select fire switch and automatic fire capability.

A March 20, 2023, Texas Tribune report claims officers, many of whom were armed with AR-15s, were afraid to confront the lone Uvalde school attacker, who was allegedly armed with an AR-15. The Tribune quotes numerous police officers from various departments explaining the reason they abandoned protocol for confronting mass shooters is that they heard other officers on the radio saying the attacker had an “AR-15” or an “AR.”

The big bore wheel gun icon who gave the world the .500 and .475 Linebaugh has hung up his revolvers for the final time. A Wyoming staple, John Linebaugh was born in 1955 and moved to the state in 1976, hanging out with the likes of Lee Jurras of Super Vel Cartridges and Dick Casull.

The Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved a resolution designating McLeod County as a “Second Amendment Dedicated County.” The resolution in part expresses opposition to any law in the future, beyond existing laws to date, that would unconstitutionally restrict the rights of the law-abiding citizens of McLeod County to keep and bear arms.

Before 1900, was there a legal history in America of prohibiting particular types of arms? Yes, but it is very short. The far more common policy for controversial arms, such as Bowie knives or handguns, was forbidding concealed carry, limiting sales to minors, or imposing extra punishment for use in a crime.

Handgun cartridge naming is an aspect of firearm ownership that can be confusing to new shooters at first – and if you decide to get yourself a full-size Sig Sauer 1911 or Glock 21, you might note on the barrel that it says, “45 Auto.” Excited to get some ammo for your new sidearm, you peruse the gun store shelves and are dismayed to only find boxes labeled, “45 ACP.”

At the State Capitol on Wednesday, House Republicans are planning to voice their concerns during a press conference about an 11-bill gun safety package being pushed through by the Legislature's Democratic majority. The Michigan House could take a vote on the package as soon as this week. If passed, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is likely to sign the legislation into law.

Gun Owners of America’s case against New York State’s Concealed Carry Improvement Act was heard in front of an appeals panel in Manhattan on Monday. It contends there are flaws in the concealed carry law and that it violates peoples’ First and Second Amendment rights, according to county attorney Stephen Button. Button is involved providing guidance to other out-of-state lawyers.
