"I must take these reviews seriously, because this is not just an instance of someone not liking what I've written. It's an attempt to make what I've written go away because -- even before the terrible events of September 11 proved me right beyond question and discredited them for all time -- it casts doubt on their fondly cherished and hysterically held misconceptions."

Woman 'digging' in someone elses gym bag, finds gun. Gun "goes off" and kills her.

-- I am sorry folks, this one stinks to high heaven. And the 'anti-gun' rabble-rousing that I have seen on the TV is nauseating. I am watching this one to see what really happened. (If we'll ever know.)

"Liza Minnelli and new husband David Gest have been subjected to a "terrifying" robbery, the latest victims of the crimewave sweeping London."

Things are so much safer in gun free London. I guess robbery is something that only the "little people just have to deal with."

Being dishonest is a common trait of liberals.

The mobster Sammy (The Bull) Gravano once called gun-control activists "the best friends a crook ever had. 'Cause guys like me will always get a gun."

"Gun rights advocates believe that defensive uses of firearms save thousands of Americans from becoming crime victims each year. Here is a case where a serial rapist was captured by armed citizens. Unfortunately, he was turned loose by the criminal justice system and we can count the number of preteen victims he later assaulted..." - Robert A. Waters

"The Arthur Anderson firm accused of shredding key documents in the Enron scandal has done the unthinkable: They have told the feds that they will not stand by like sheep going to the slaughter and accept plea bargains.

"I believe it critical for Americans to understand why Arthur Andersen's people have done the right thing in standing up to the federal mafia. The federal government has no jurisdiction over Enron's personnel. You see, it's a constitutional thing."

"Defendants can be forcibly drugged even though they haven’t been convicted of any charges and pose no danger to themselves or others. That’s the ruling issued [March 7, 2002] by the Federal Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in the case of United States v. Charles Thomas Sell."

"THE Supreme Court is on the verge of surrendering another slice of freedom, this time to the war on drugs. At oral arguments this week, a majority of the justices seemed ready to permit mandatory drug tests for public school students involved in extracurricular activities. Universal drug testing in the schools may not be far behind."

"Americans tend to react emotionally to words such as Nazi, communist and socialist, with very little understanding of what distinguishes one from the other. The term "social democracy," stirs little emotion, because it too, is not well understood."

"Democratic socialism is a kinder, gentler form of Marxism ... The United States wears no such label but, increasingly, it should."

"Last month, the firearms industry held its annual trade show, the Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trades Show (SHOT Show), in Las Vegas. The business news from the SHOT Show is very bad news for gun prohibitionists, but even worse, from the prohibition viewpoint, is the new attitude of the American firearms industry, an attitude for which New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial deserves as much credit as anyone else." - Dave Kopel

-- Of interest to us all. FYI...

"the tendency for people who use the perceived anonymity of the medium to lash out or "flame," as it is called in cyber-speak, against public and private figures, companies and institutions.

But with the increased venting comes ... lawsuits from corporate lawyers who have discovered posters' identities and sued them, arguing that their flaming has crossed the line from free speech to defamation."

-- It sounds like SOME corporate lawyers have found what they think is a new way to cash in on people's lives, and that SOME companies don't want people talking about them negatively, true or not.

In fact, the more we rely on government to find truth and secure justice, the more we see how corrupt, how hopeless it is in doing either."

"Steps are being taken to remove a Bethesda man from a county committee on hate and violence after he ruffled political feathers on both sides of the aisle with a flier depicting three Montgomery legislators who support gun control as Nazis."

-- Same situation as the 'corporate lawyers' who are suing for 'defamation'. Is the 1st Amendment still in effect if people can be punished for publicly speaking the truth?

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking laws. — AYN RAND
