The .32 Smith & Wesson is a small pistol cartridge intended for use as personal protection at close range. The S&W Model 1˝ break-top revolver was the first platform for the cartridge. Intended for use at card table distances, the .32 S&W was considered the smallest cartridge acceptable for personal protection in its time. It fit the bill for being a gentlemans vest gun a small handgun for the vest pocket that was especially popular in the late 19th century and early 20th century. It was later surpassed by the .32 ACP. The .32 S&W may also be referred to as the .32 S&W Short.

A few weeks ago I received a packet of information from one of our readers. As so often happens, this proved to be a gold mine of information. One of the things the reader sent along was a copy of a handwritten letter written to his father dating back 70 years. The letter was from Gordon Boser and is here reprinted for posterity. Boser was a gunsmith and a sixgun wildcatter dating back to the 1940s, known for his work with the .40 sixgun cartridge, which was definitely in the Magnum category.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has announced a two-week stay home order that lists marijuana shop workers as essential to the workforce, while noticeably absent from the list are firearms and ammunition distributors and retailers, although they apparently are considered essential in other states.

A spokesman in the governors office advised Liberty Park Press Tuesday afternoon that the shut down does apply to gun stores.

On March 24, 2020, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf (D) augmented his list of life-sustaining businesses to include gun dealers, allowing them to remain open as long as they adhere to certain restrictions. The new language was added under Trade, Transportation, & Utilities, in the subsection Sporting Goods, Hobby, Book, & Music Stores.

On March 20th, the Attorney General submitted an amended ballot title for Initiative Petition 40. The state Supreme Court previously sided with NRA on several points in a challenge against IP 40, finding the title and yes result statement inadequate to alert voters of the changes proposed to the law. The final, modified title now reads... Requires locking firearm/using locked storage (exceptions), reporting loss, supervising minors' use. Penalties/strict liability.

In doing so, Gov. You want to have a gun before you need it. Advocates of armed defense have been saying that for decades, though recent events underlined their point. Last month, sentencing reforms in some states effectively decriminalized theft under about 900$. We saw stores stripped by flash-mobs of shoplifters. Police refused to investigate a misdemeanor crime even though the total loss may be tens-of-thousands of dollars. Those sentencing revisions also let more serious criminals out of jail without bail. The revolving door of injustice spun pretty fast after that. Last week, some cities let convicted thugs out of jail because of a flu virus.

The Los Angeles County sheriff said Tuesday gun shops are not essential businesses and ordered deputies to make sure they were closed during the coronavirus crisis a move that was contradicted hours later when the county's top lawyer said the shops could be open. Officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said a post floating around on Facebook about current hunting seasons is fake.
The fake post claims that all hunting seasons are currently open due to a food shortage. TWRA officials said "this is NOT true." "The only thing legal to harvest right now is bullfrog, armadillo, coyote, beaver and striped skunk," TWRA said in a Facebook post. Youth turkey season opens Saturday, March 28. The season for everyone else begins on April 4.

Despite rumors on social media channels, the DNR has no plans to eliminate seasons, relax regulations or change license prices. Fishing and hunting regulations exist to protect human safety as well as wildlife populations over the long-term, said Dale Garner, Conservation and Recreation division administrator at the Iowa DNR. We balance the long-term sustainability of Iowas natural resources with the well-being of Iowans, and will continue to take a thoughtful, science-based approach to Iowas hunting and fishing laws.
