The National Rifle Association is bringing the National Police Shooting Championship to Albuquerque.
The NRA will hold the 45th annual pistol and shotgun competition during five days in October at the city’s 4,000-acre Shooting Range Park.
Range manager Rick Vernon says the NRA is committed to holding the match at the shooting range on Albuquerque’s far west side for the next five years.
The state Legislature approved $1.4 million for improvements at the shooting range.
Vernon says they include expansion of protective earthen safety berms and installation of 100 turning targets required for the match.
He says as many as 500 police officers nationwide compete in the match. |
