"I've carried a sidearm since 1983. I did it first as a US Marine embassy guard and then as a federal police officer. I’ve been an executive protection specialist and traveled armed overseas, on planes and in the homes of national figures. I’ve been trained to teach others. I’ve taught students at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. I have an active national security clearance. I am an ordained member of clergy. I live in Maryland where none of this matters. Here, a person has to prove 'good and substantial reason' before being granted a permit to carry a firearm for their own protection . . ." ... |

"'Gun Violence? What exactly is 'gun violence'? It is obviously a Liberal political term similar to 'assault weapon.' Neither one exists as such, but both induce lots of fear and no real facts. When someone poisons someone else we don’t say 'poison violence', and if a person is killed by a car we don’t say 'car violence'. When doctors kill with their medical mistakes, which by the way kill millions of people every year, far beyond any use of weapons, we don’t say 'medical violence'. We don’t even consider it as murder! I can think of hundreds of death causing items, and yet there is no 'baseball bat violence' or even 'knife violence'. The word usage is not even correct . . ." ... |

"Dayne Pryor is the chief of police in Rollingwood, Texas, a small suburb of Austin. 'I’ve been in law enforcement for 31 years and I’ve been a chief for eight years,' he sighs. 'And it’s just one of those things that I never thought I’d have a problem with, especially being in Texas.'"
"Pryor’s problem, he explains to Salon, is that he’s having trouble finding ammunition and firearms for his officers, thanks to a national shortage. The cause? A run on supply from gun lovers afraid that Congress or state legislatures will impose new gun control laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting." ... -------

"St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner rarely uses the term 'gun control,' except in the ironic sense, within quotation marks. This is because the term is dishonest--the real objective of 'gun control' is actually citizen control, and the disarmed are obviously much more easily controlled. That's why St. Louis GRE prefers the much more honest term: 'forcible citizen disarmament.' Now, even the forcible citizen disarmament lobby is trying to distance itself from the term 'gun control,' but, obviously, for very different reasons. From the Washington Post:" ... |

... "The lesson to take away from Passover isn’t that G-d is on the side of the Jews and will bail them out whenever they are in trouble, but instead that we should never forget what happened and strive to keep from getting into that same situation. That a situation where the ruling class has all of the power and the workers have no means to protect themselves inevitably leads to abuse and terror. In today’s world, that means defending the right of the common man to own a firearm." ... |

"Like most communities, Quakertown is proud of its parks and strives to make them as attractive as possible. That includes a focus on safety, especially for kids. Toward that end, it’s perfectly logical that the borough prohibits the possession of firearms in all of its parks and on other public properties."

"As evidenced by the volume of recent editorials and vents, those on the left are going to extremes to reconcile the simple language and historical context of the Second Amendment with their own big government nanny state political views."
"One such effort is to take isolated phrases out of context. Focusing only on the words 'well regulated,' Paul Simons says that the phrase justifies federal regulation as 'the law of the land.' In her recent vent, Sue Busch compares 'regulation' to that for 'cars and safety!' Both ignore the remainder of the introductory clause ... The objective of the well regulated militia is the security of a free state — not the security of the federal government!" ... |

... "I’m a proud loving father; my child is the most important person in my life. In a recent letter to the editor, I discussed the need to have police officers or professionally trained armed guards in schools. ... I think the government should pay for school security for our children. But the government says it does not have the funds to put guards in every school. I find that hard to believe, since our federal government spends money on the following: $384,949 to Yale University to study duck private parts, $1.5 million on a menu for people going to Mars, $325,000 to build a robotic squirrel, $750,000 on a new soccer field for detainees held at Guantanamo Bay ... but still our government does not have the money to protect our children?" ... |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. — Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985) |
