They're petitioning Governor Rell for her help finding a new owner for the New Haven factory.
A spokesman for Rell says the governor has asked the state Department of Economic and Community Development to find a way to keep Winchester in New Haven.
He says finding a buyer for the plant is not entirely off the table though some options may be limited because the US Repeating Arms company has announced its intention to close.
Representatives of gun maker Smith and Wesson toured the facility over the weekend, but there is no word on whether they are interested in buying the plant. |
