... "Case in point, since OSHA is mentioned as a possible catalyst in Thursday’s Bozeman raid by other agencies, this column warned back in 2009 that Obama’s pick to head the agency, David Michaels, was strongly anti-gun and committed to using regulatory schemes to get his way. At the time of his nomination, this column advocated organized opposition, including scoring confirmation votes against gun group ratings and contacting the appropriate Senate committee, even reminding readers of Michaels’ organizational connections with George Soros (himself a backer of draconian international citizen disarmament efforts)." ... |

"'Columnist Shawn Vestal of the Spokane, Washington Spokesman-Review is horrified by the idea that the natural, fundamental, and inalienable human, individual, civil and Constitutional right to own and carry the weapon of your choice is soon going to apply (in a rather limited fashion) to college and university campuses in Idaho. Furthermore, he seems to believe that if he piles up enough distortions, twisted and irrelevant facts and outright lies, he will get people to agree with him; at least that is what I assume he’s doing with the piles of distortions, twisted and irrelevant facts and outright lies he presents in Statistics are poor ammo in Idaho debate about guns." ... |

"We all know the Second Amendment. We can recite it by heart. ..."
"But it is infringed. It’s infringed every day. From the President to the line police officer, laws are passed, regulations are promulgated, judicial decisions are written, all of which are enforced with the very guns citizens should have full and equal access to own and carry, to resist the unconstitutional laws and force that are not only infringing on the Second Amendment, but reversing it. It might as well read 'A well equipped government, being necessary for security and order, the right of the government to be ultimately armed against the disarmed citizenry, shall not be infringed.'" ... |

"California's approved handgun list is shaky at best, and is all guised behind the list of safety. This list has been changing greatly over the past few months, all centered around some BS legislation that handguns must be equipped the microstamp in two places. Microstamping would show the guns serial number and manufacturer on the casing via the firing pin and somewhere else on the round which the law doesn't specifically detail." ... -------
Submitter's Note: The truth about CA's microstamping law is that it is an outright gun ban. Check out this amazing video that shows the motives behind the microstamping law and how easily it can be defeated. |

"... a civic arena full of firearms, enough ammunition to fuel a lifetime of range visits, and humans in all shapes and sizes, at least a plurality of whom are occupationally capable of mowing down a small town with a Crickett .17hmr and one of those weirdly ornate double-ended swords ... And yet, despite the plethora of 'killing machines' and the battalion-sized group of ostensibly trained killers, not a single shot was fired. Despite thousands of weapons and thousands of rounds within arm’s length of hundreds of people who know precisely how to use them against other people, no one suffered worse than a paper cut ..."

"'It has been more than 15 months since private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management pledged to sell Freedom Group, maker of the Bushmaster rifle that was used in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre,' finance.fortune.cnn.com reports. 'The promise came after pressure from the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), a public schoolteachers pension fund that was invested with the relevant Cerberus fund. By late last year, however, it had become apparent that Cerberus could not find a taker for the company. Too controversial, too big, too integrated.' Yeah, that’s one theory. "While my previous posts on the virtues of the .40 S&W round seemed to stirred the sleeping dragon known as the 'pistol caliber wars', that wasn’t really the intent. And today it’s time to talk about what the .40 Smith & Wesson brought about by the nature of round’s existence. There is a lot to thank the .40 for and it usually gets no credit. The round’s virtues go far beyond the fact that it reliably penetrates the 12-18 inches of ballistic gelatin, as it was originally designed . . ." ... |

"But America’s firearms fraternity, including the folks at Seattle Guns, will not likely miss Morgan, who spent his final four minutes on the air Friday blasting the right that they contend has kept this nation free — and saved his nation more than once — by insisting that guns belong 'on a military battlefield…not in the hands of civilians.' ..." ... |

"Pennsylvania legislators likely will have a chance to prove, as early as today, that they favor broad public safety over narrow but well-heeled special interests."
"Two gun-related bills could come up for votes. One would marginally increase public safety; the other would diminish it."
"After a majority of legislators kow-towed to the gun lobby five years ago and refused to pass a law requiring the reporting to police of lost or stolen guns, 30 municipalities around the state took matters into their own hands."
"The lack of a reporting law enables straw purchasers and others to buy guns, sell them to people who legally could not purchase them and later, when a gun shows up at a crime scene ... claim that it had been lost or stolen." ... |

"What does an aspiring politician do with a political hot button issue? If a court ruling goes against the personal views of the politician’s major campaign donors, then the politician appeals the court ruling. Politicians listen when money talks. The politician wants to tie the decision up in court rather than disappoint the political money men. The court appeals could take years, and who knows, the politician might get lucky and have the case decided in their favor. That would earn the politician some campaign cash, or even an appointed political position. That story is being played out in California today." ... |

"Anti-gun California State Senator Leland Yee, facing federal corruption charges that include gun trafficking, was honored in 2006 by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence for his gun control efforts, and yesterday, he dropped out of the race for California Secretary of State, the San Francisco Chronicle first reported."
"And last night, Alan Gottlieb, the Bellevue-based gun rights advocate who was first to criticize Yee’s apparent hypocrisy, became the new bogeyman for a Seattle-based gun prohibition group that is using his image in a fund-raising e-mail invitation to attend another 'campaign kickoff' on Monday, June 2. ..." ... |

"Yesterday’s San Jose Mercury News profile of California State Sen. Leland Yee — arrested last week on charges that include alleged gun trafficking — paints a portrait of a man consumed by professional politics and its biggest single demand: Money."
"Yee is one of 26 people named in the federal complaint that caused an eruption of arrests and accusations, on the senator’s part, anyway, of political hypocrisy so grotesque that, according to the Mercury News, many people still find it hard to believe. Yee has been one of the Golden State’s most aggressive gun control proponents ... He now is alleged to have been also pushing in the opposite direction — the illegal trafficking of firearms — for his own political and monetary gain." ... |

"A trial over Colorado laws imposing new firearm restrictions is starting in federal court."
"The lawsuit filed by gun-rights advocates and Colorado sheriffs seeks to overturn legislation signed last year by Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper. "Sullivan is convinced that if Colorado's ban on high-capacity magazines had been in effect, his son Alex may have had a chance."
