I missed these details at first. A news crew was the victim of a recent robbery attempt. This was a video crew from the local CBS affiliate in San Francisco. The crew was protected by an armed guard. This is interesting because CBS condemned ordinary citizens for being armed. The network said it is unwise for you or me to have a gun to protect our family while CBS protected their camera equipment with armed guards.
I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning. |

Pueblo-area state lawmakers haven’t made up their minds about the contentious “red flag” bill that would let police temporarily confiscate guns from someone acting in a dangerous way towards others or themselves. The state House debated House Bill 1177 for 10 hours before the majority Democrats passed it on a voice vote late Friday evening. It will likely be back for final consideration and a final vote on Monday. |

Nostalgia gripped gun owners this week as longtime foe the Brady Campaign managed to garner a few measly headlines in the media landscape they once commanded so ably. As it happens, the Brady Campaign has decided to undergo another rebranding effort and will now go by simply “Brady.” For those counting, this is the fourth different name for the outmoded handgun prohibition organization. |

In light of recent mass shootings, gun control has become the center of attention in American politics. While many argue that guns are an American freedom and privilege, in the wrong hands they can be fatal. Ever since Parkland, the movement to change gun laws has caught the attention of students across the nation. New Mexican teens have become aware of our state’s lenient background check laws and gun show loophole that allows abusers to purchase a gun from a private seller, no questions asked. |

A local gun show advertisement is capitalizing on two controversial proposals to tighten firearms sales background checks in New Mexico. An ad created by the New Mexico Gun Collectors Association promoting this weekend's gun show says it could be a person's "last chance" to buy a gun before New Mexicans Second Amendment rights are stripped by state lawmakers. KRQE News 13 was told we were not allowed inside the private event, but we did catch up with people outside the state-owned venue who say Democrat state lawmakers are overstepping boundaries.

Kentucky lawmakers sided with a powerful gun-rights organization Friday in approving a bill to let people carry a concealed handgun without a permit or training. The measure, backed by the National Rifle Association, sparked impassioned debate in the House that veered between gun ownership rights and fears of more gun violence. The bill won final passage on a 60-37 vote and goes to Republican Gov. Matt Bevin.

House Democrats are crowing about their passage Wednesday of H.R. 8, the so-called “Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019,” but they may soon be eating crow because the White House has already stated that if the measure reaches the president’s desk, his advisors will recommend a veto.
It’s really all about playing to their far-left base, in preparation for the 2020 elections so Democrats can campaign on the argument that Republicans will have “blocked common-sense gun safety legislation.” |

Not only have you not broken any laws, you’re not even speeding. But the police officer doesn’t appear to be interested in charging you with a crime. If readers haven’t been following the pro-freedom news lately, it’s easy to miss that a number of states have passed a unique, welcome, necessary reform: constitutional carry. One gun rights lobbyist in Iowa announced that this was a hot issue this year, even though an Iowa legislative committee had stalled on its passage. Constitutional carry is carrying a lot of weight this year. Yet still the stigma remains that it’s dangerous, foolish to allow law-abiding citizens to carry a firearm, whether open or concealed, and without having to obtain a permit.

The Legislature returns Monday to Pierre. The Senate floor may be the last stop for a high-profile bill to legalize industrial hemp before it reaches Gov. Kristi Noem. A lot of projects were put on hold last year in Ventura as the city staff spent a significant amount of time focusing on rebuilding part of a community destroyed in the Thomas Fire. Several are on tap Monday night, when the City Council will consider hiring a consultant to boost economic development, a policy on marijuana delivery services and an ordinance on firearms sales and businesses. |

A uniquely California program investigated a record number of people who no longer are allowed to own firearms, yet the underlying backlog remains nearly the same as a year ago, state Attorney General Xavier Becerra said Friday. He blamed an increase in gun possessions and too few special agents, despite an infusion of $24 million in recent years, and said his office may always have a problem clearing cases unless agents get raises that bring their salaries more in line with other law enforcement agencies. |

African-American guns rights activist Maj Toure says conservatives have to do a better job of appealing people in urban communities. His remarks came Thursday during an interview with National Rifle Association board member Willes Lee at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) near Washington. As the founder of Black Guns Matter -- a group that educates people in urban communities on their Second Amendment rights through firearms training and education -- Toure said inner-city Americans have been left out of the conversation when it comes to gun rights. |
