Senate Bill 195 clarifies South Dakota’s current Stand your Ground law by establishing that the burden of proof, by clear and convincing evidence, lies on the party seeking to overcome the immunity provided under this law. This measure clarifies the burden of proof and who bears the burden of proof in Stand your Ground self-defense cases. Senate Bill 195 was passed out of the House by a 51 to 18 vote.
House Bill 1162 updates the definition of “loaded firearm” under South Dakota law to designate that a firearm is considered loaded only if a round is chambered. This update provides easier methods of storing firearms in an “unloaded” manner... |

Last April, two Republicans in the Ohio House told lawmakers their “constitutional carry” bill would ease the bureaucratic hassle of undergoing training and a background check to obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon.
They didn’t write the speech.
Chris Dorr, the “no compromise” gun lobbyist and executive director of Ohio Gun Owners, did. Metadata attached to a copy of their testimony on the legislature’s website shows his name as the author of the document. |

We asked District Attorney Joe Gonzales what led to the decision not to prosecute. He sent the following statement:
“Last week, a Bexar County Grand Jury declined to indict this case. Because this case may be the subject of further review or investigation, we can make no further comment on it.”
The Hawkins family said they met with Gonzales for two hours this week. They said they have hired an attorney and when the shock wears off a bit, they will consider what action they will take in their fight for justice. |

A Senate panel voted Thursday to allow more people to carry guns into more places.
On a party-line vote, with Republicans in the majority, the Judiciary Committee approved permitting loaded weapons on school campuses as long as they remain in a vehicle.
Backers of House Bill 2414 say it’s designed to ensure parents driving on to school grounds to pick up their kids don’t have to first stop and unload their weapons. Michael Infanzon, lobbyist for the Arizona Citizens Defense League said most accidents occur when people load and unload their weapons. |

The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action is pleased to announce the Ohio legislature passed NRA-backed constitutional carry legislation on Wednesday and the bill is en route to the governor’s desk for signature.
“This is a huge moment for Ohioans, who value their Second Amendment rights — but have been forced to ask for extra government permission before fully exercising them,” said John Weber, NRA Ohio state director. “The NRA has spent years trying to get a bill like this passed in Ohio, and we’re hopeful the governor will sign and finally make this a reality.” |

Self-defense is the main reason for buying guns, according to a Pew Research survey, but many Black owners say that, for them, self-defense can be a particularly thorny concept, one that exists in a complicated tension with their feelings about police conduct and racism.
Sharis started carrying a firearm because she doesn't feel comfortable with the idea of calling police for protection. The Lewises live not far from Ferguson, Missouri, where in 2014, the killing of Black resident Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson became an early catalyst for the Black Lives Matter movement. |

The man who shot and killed another motorist while they were driving down Sparta Highway will not be charged.
Special prosecutor Craig Northcott announced on Thursday he will not be charging Jeremiah Dearinger, also known as Jeremiah Davis, in the Oct. 24 shooting death of Christopher Hollis, 36.
Among the findings announced Thursday, Northcott said an autopsy revealed Hollis was under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and meth at the time of his death. A loaded handgun was found at his feet and Northcott said Hollis had been pointing the gun at Dearinger from his vehicle as they were driving. |

Yesterday, a conference committee removed existing language from Senate Bill 209 to replace it with constitutional carry language from House Bill 1077. Now, the House and Senate will need to caucus to agree to sign the conference report. The Speaker of the House and the Senate President will need to appoint conferees to sign the report. In the hearing today, each chamber sent two Republicans and two Democrats. The leaders of each chamber will need to remove any lawmaker who doesn't agree to the report and appoint those who will. |

Last night, Senate Bill 5078, the 10-round Magazine Ban legislation, was sent to the House floor and could be heard at any moment. Anti-gun legislators are pulling out all the stops to get this measure passed as soon as possible. It is critical that you contact your state Representative and respectfully urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 5078. This is the last chance for NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters to contact their Representatives in opposition to this extreme anti-gun measure before it goes to proven anti-gun Governor Jay Inslee. |

A home intruder is dead after knocking on multiple houses in a neighborhood. He apparently picked the wrong one to break into.
Witnesses say they saw a man knocking on multiple doors in a Houston neighborhood early this morning around 1 AM. One homeowner saw the suspect through the peephole on his front door. The suspect walked off and keyed his car when he didn’t answer. The suspect then decided to go to the house next door, but instead of knocking on the door, he broke through the glass back door and entered the home. |

Floridians could openly carry firearms in public and wouldn’t need a permit to carry them concealed under legislation that now has the endorsement of Governor Ron DeSantis.
There’s one problem though… The bill hasn’t received a single hearing in either legislative chamber.
While the sponsor of the constitutional carry bill thinks it will be enough to pull the bill directly on the House floor for a vote, opponents don’t seem all that worried.
Governor Ron DeSantis was asked if he would support constitutional carry at a press conference Thursday morning.
His direct response: “Put it on my desk I’ll sign it”. |

Looking for a new-to-you shotgun? When considering action type, models (variances) and manufacturers, there’s a seemingly endless selection from which to choose. While many buyers ultimately swipe the plastic for a semi-automatic or pump-action—greater capacity is better, right—a twin-tubed shotgun could be the best solution. But narrowing down the fields of side-by-side and over-under shotguns can be daunting. How do you know which twin-barrel configuration is right for you, and why should you go this route instead of the other shotgun types? |

One of the first things Ukrainian leaders did to thwart Russian invaders under President Vladimir Putin was arm tens of thousands of its citizens with automatic weapons — better known in the U.S. as machine guns, illegal in the U.S. and far more lethal than the semi-automatic assault rifles that, according to several polls, most Democrats would also like to outlaw.
What do machine guns in the Ukraine have to do with gun-control in America? Plenty, some who are pro-gun are saying. |

“I need ammunition, not a ride”, powerful words spoken by Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky in response to an offer of evacuation from US leaders. AMMO Inc. is taking President Zelensky at face value, offering up over one million rounds of ammunition in the fight against Russian invaders. Known for producing several popular brands of ammunition, and as the operator of Gunbroker, AMMO Inc. is no stranger to crises.
As of this writing, we are still awaiting acceptance of this donation from the Ukrainian government. If this deal goes through, it’ll be interesting to see if manufacturers in the private sector step up as well. If they do, we may see renewed shortages or price increases stateside as domestic ammunition production... |

With the invasion by the Russian military, Ukrainian men, women, and children have taken up arms in defense of their loved ones, homes, and country. The American Left, ranging from the radical (Occupy Democrats) to the establishment (Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer), is praising them.
Ironically, these Democrats actively seek to deny Americans this same right of self-defense by continuously attacking the Second Amendment. |

Without question, one of the great hustles perpetrated against Black folks was when the gun lobby boldly proclaimed, “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” This convinced some of us to suspend disbelief and imagine a world in which we can count on being seen as a good guy when we have a gun in our hands. |

Second Amendment advocates on Thursday were delivered a major victory as the Alabama Senate passed constitutional carry, or permitless carry legislation, by a vote of 23-6.
Sponsored by State Rep. Shane Stringer (R-Citronelle) in the House and carried in the upper chamber by State Sen. Gerald Allen (R-Tuscaloosa), House Bill 272 enshrines Alabamians’ rights to carry a firearm without having to purchase a concealed carry permit.
After successful passage in the Senate, Allen hailed Stringer’s work in moving the bill through the legislative process. |
