"Two things stand out: the source is unidentified, and the source equates compliance with lawful congressional oversight with 'waste'.”

Submitter's note: Sunday's Gun Rights Examiner report notes a familiar pattern. Also experience a loss of confidence and get the latest on "Operation #EFAD."

If Facebook, with more than a half billion (with a “B”) active users, was a country, it would be the third largest in the world behind China and India. With access to features like “community pages”, which allow likeminded Facebook users to openly share topics that appeal to their common interests, a growing number of communities which cater to female shooters are emerging. Communities such as “Girl Gun Owners”, “Lip-gloss and Lead”, “Glock Girls” and “Girls of Fire” to name just a few, support the fact that, not only are more women getting gun savvy, they’re applying their real-world savvy to leverage social networking’s ability to connect with an expanding market.

"The incident occurred at Millrace Park, 1155 W. 5400 South, just before 1 p.m. A full-grown bull terrier had attacked the puppy, which is of an unknown breed, said Lt. Tracy Wyant of the Taylorsville Police Department. The bull terrier had the puppy by the neck, and the owners of the two dogs attempted to pry them apart.

When that failed, the owner of the puppy, who is a concealed-weapons permit holder, took out a .40 -caliber hand gun and shot the bull terrier. Both dogs were taken to nearby animal hospitals and both are expected to live."

Submitter's note: FINALLY an officer involved shooting that I can respect (and he wasn't even acting in the capacity of an officer, he was acting as a regular citizen).

A TSA management crackdown on lax or improper screening at Newark Liberty International Airport has resulted dozens of agency employees’ being taken off the job for retraining or discipline, according to TSA and union officials.

To pick up the slack, sources say, the agency has had to call in replacement screeners from outside Newark Liberty, a so-called 9/11 airport with a history of high-profile security breaches and leadership problems.

That seems to be the implication of United States v. Stegmeier (D.S.D. Dec. 2, 2011) (now on appeal). Stegmeier let a man named Kelley stay in his RV; Kelley was a fugitive from justice, and there was some evidence Stegmeier knew it. Stegmeier also told Kelley where Stegmeier kept his gun. When Kelley was caught, Stegmeier was prosecuted for various charges, including “dispos[ing]” a gun to “any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe” the person is a felon, under indictment for a felony, or a fugitive from justice. The jury convicted, and the judge concluded that the evidence was sufficient to support the conviction

A Cook County judge today ruled the state’s controversial eavesdropping law unconstitutional.

The law makes it a felony offense to make audio recordings of police officers without their consent even when they’re performing their public duties.

Judge Stanley Sacks, who is assigned to the Criminal Courts Building, found the eavesdropping law unconstitutional because it potentially criminalizes “wholly innocent conduct.”

Walking into the woods Saturday behind the Massena Rod and Gun Club, 155 Patterson Road, was like stepping 200 years into the past. Nearly a dozen competitors braved the elements for the first St. Lawrence Valley Primitive Snowshoe Biathlon. One by one, the racers donned their wooden snowshoes, packed their long guns with black powder and trekked through the snowy woods, stopping only to take aim at several targets scattered throughout the mile-long course.

Newburgh Mayor Judy Kennedy has announced her membership in Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a national, bipartisan coalition of more than 600 mayors working to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. The Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition is pushing Congress to close deadly loopholes and give law enforcement agencies the tools they need to stop gun trafficking. “We have to fight this battle on all fronts,” said Mayor Kennedy. “That means greater enforcement and awareness at the local level. At the same time, we need cooperation from Washington.”

“It’s better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it.” This is the maxim that I live by. Not for everyday problems, but for a truly life-or-death issue: self-defense. Particularly, carrying a gun for defense; i.e. concealed carry. Currently, 49 out of 50 states have some form of concealed carry law on the books (Wisconsin being the most recent addition), which allow private citizens, provided they have met all necessary requirements, to carry a concealed handgun on their person for self-defense purposes. So who’s left out? That’s right, Illinois.

Classes at Big Iron Concealed Handgun Training are filling up fast.

Owner Johnny Price says he's had entire companies come to him for help with self-defense and some employers have been picking up the tab in hopes of better protecting their employees.

"They want them all to be safe," said Price. "They've had neighbors that have had store robberies and different things happen close by and it's a shame but people are getting more afraid of what's happening out there."

A proposed bill that would allow law-abiding Colorado gun owners to carry a concealed firearm without a concealed carry permit would be dangerous and would shoot down important gun training, two local firearms instructors said Sunday.

Leonard Jimenez, president of the Pueblo Municipal Shooters, and Patrick Watts, a retired Arizona sheriff's deputy and firearms instructor, said education is the only safe way for people to understand concealed weapons laws.

"Guns save lives," Matthew Lee, a volunteer for Newt Gingrich, defiantly tells people at a Tennessee gun show, which is also a key political event in the Republican primary campaign.

In states such as Tennessee and Georgia, where voters head to the polls for "Super Tuesday" primaries, the Republican contenders seeking to unseat Democrat Barack Obama are wooing voters at religious gatherings and gun shows.

Instead, lawmakers such as House Democratic Leader Kevin McCarthy, while touting his lifetime membership in the National Rifle Association, said the gun bill was extreme. McCarthy said the GOP-sponsored measures would turn "Iowa into the wild, wild West."

"It would eliminate all gun laws," McCarthy said. "This issue is very, very extreme. This proposal is not a mainstream proposal."

One measure would allow people to use deadly force if threatened.

The second was a resolution that would call for writing gun rights into the Iowa Constitution. The proposed constitutional amendment would mandate that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms as herein expressed shall not be infringed."

It is being reported that HR 347 will also “seriously diminish the right of American citizens to petition their Government for a redress of grievances by outlawing protests where key government officials or other VIP’s may be nearby.” A violation of this law gets you either a fine or up to 10 years in prison; both if you dare to exercise your right to bear arms during your protest – as Chris (last name withheld) did during a 2009 protest in Phoenix, Arizona – even if you harmed no one.

Interest in firearms, fueled partly by Wisconsin’s new concealed-carry law, prompted a thousand gun enthusiasts to the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds in Janesville on Saturday for the Rock County Rifle and Pistol Club gun show.

“Interest has definitely picked up, and I’m sure the new concealed-carry law has something to do with it,” said the club’s president, Joe LeBeau of Janesville. “We see increased interest in firearms and an increase in our membership.”

The notion that students should be allowed to carry guns on a college campus is a bad idea. No, it is a really bad idea.

It is incredible that the Senate Judiciary Committee by a 5-3 vote approved Senate Bill 1474. Soon the Arizona Legislature will vote on this bill, which if approved would allow anyone 21 and older with a concealed-carry permit to carry a gun on the campuses of public universities and community colleges.

Gun sales are booming across Texas, and some buyers say their growing belief that President Barack Obama will inevitably be re-elected is fueling their race to bear more arms.

And sales haven't just risen in Texas. There's been a rush nationwide, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram ( ) reported in Sunday's edition.

The Cheaper than Dirt gun store in Fort Worth set a sales record for February, said store owner DeWayne Irwin, who described the rush as similar to one seen shortly after Obama's 2008 election.

Being a member of the National Rifle Association, I would like to take this chance to inform every law-abiding citizen and gun owner that President Obama and his liberal Cabinet members – namely Attorney General Eric Holder, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich, to name a few – continue to try everything within their power to take away our Second Amendment rights, which is the right to keep and bear arms.

The Second Amendment, a true artifact of the 18th century, should also be jettisoned. Contrary to the views of conservative justices on the Supreme Court, the amendment only protects the right to bear arms in conjunction with service in a well-regulated militia. While the Framers of the Constitution intended the Second Amendment to curb the arbitrary use of power by the federal government, not even a million gun-slinging Texans could hope to counter the power of the U.S. government today, backed in full force by the world’s largest nuclear arsenal.

Congressman Don Manzullo (R-IL) today urged Illinois leaders to oppose gun control legislation working its way through the Illinois General Assembly and instead join our nation’s 49 other states and pursue viable conceal-carry legislation.

In a letter to Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-IL) and Republican Leader Tom Cross (R-IL), Manzullo called on the leaders to oppose legislation that would ban and increase penalties on semi-automatic firearms (HB 1294 and HB 1599), impose a 2 percent tax on ammunition (HB 5167), and create a firearms registry supported by a new fee (HB 5831).

Actually, West Chester University is in violation of two constitutions—the Pennsylvania Constitution and the federal Constitution. The problem is West Chester University's gun policy which says that "it shall be prohibited for anyone to possess or control weapons, firearms or dangerous devices at West Chester University of Pennsylvania."
