The worst by far is a bill filed in both the House and Senate that would eliminate all “gun-free” zones in the state. If passed, persons with concealed-weapons permits would be able to carry firearms to pro sports events, bars, police stations, K-12 public schools, public colleges and universities, courthouses, polling places, government meetings, seaports and airport passenger terminals.
Submitters note: Another anti-gun reporter with an agenda. Blood in the streets predictions have not happened anywhere and won't happen in Florida. |

Just over a week after Gov. Sununu repealed the concealed carry bill, dozens rallied in frigid temperatures to celebrate their right to bear arms. Legislative Director of Women's Defense League of NH Susan Olsen took to the mic to welcome everyone to the 3rd Annual Gun Rights Rally at the State House Saturday. One by one advocates of the second amendment were called up to the mic. They each told a different story, all with the same point — the right to carry is a constitutional right, and they were proud to point out that New Hampshire is one of 15 states to honor that. |

When street-gang thieves slipped with ease into a Norfolk Southern rail yard on Chicago’s South Side and ripped locks off one train, they likely expected to see merchandise like toys or tennis shoes. What they beheld instead was a gangster’s jackpot: box after box of brand new guns. The guns had been en route from New Hampshire weapon maker Sturm, Ruger & Co. to Spokane, Wash. Instead, the .45-caliber Ruger revolvers and other firearms spread quickly into surrounding high-crime neighborhoods. Along with two other major gun thefts within three years, the robbery helped fuel a wave of violence on Chicago’s streets. |

The New Mexico Senate on Saturday approved a bill that would make it illegal for anyone but police officers and people with concealed-carry licenses to have a gun in the state Capitol. Senate Bill 337, sponsored by Sens. Daniel Ivey-Soto, D-Albuquerque, and Bill Sharer, R-Farmington, passed on a bipartisan vote of 29-12. Seven Senate Republicans joined 22 Democrats in supporting the bill. And three Democrats voted with nine Republicans in opposing it. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives. |

The state issued more permits to carry firearms in 2016 than in any year since it began distributing permits 13 years ago. South-central Minnesota is clearly part of the trend. Sheriff's departments across the state granted over 71,000 permits to carry firearms last year, according to the annual Bureau of Criminal Apprehension permit to carry report issued this week. That's a nearly 60 percent increase over the number of permits issued in 2015. |

Cassie Crouch of Bedford, Virginia, started hunting when she met the man whom she later would marry. “It was one of our first dates,” she said. In 2010, Crouch and her husband Daniel even celebrated their wedding anniversary by hunting wild hogs. Crouch, who uses a variety of guns as well as a bow and arrow, likes the fact that hunters soon may have a choice of colors for their hunting safety apparel: Hunters in Virginia would be able to wear bright pink, instead of being limited to blaze orange, under a bill approved by the General Assembly during its recent session. |

It seems that no matter where you go across small town America you will run into local shooting clubs that are historically at the heart of American sportsmen and women. People who hunt, shoot clay birds, archery, trap, and often shoot competitively have a place in our culture. They are the heart and soul of conservation, wildlife management and most importantly, raising money for land acquisition for wildlife and shooting sports. In most cases the clubs themselves are not as involved as their members are in national organizations that are designed to save wild places and wild critters. |

We all know that criminals break our laws. We also know that law enforcement can arrest lawbreakers. The proposed legislation in Alabama to remove the restriction from carrying a handgun in a vehicle without a permit will make it much more difficult to arrest criminals with handguns and detect the seriously mentally ill. |

Guns were not allowed at Donald Trump’s inauguration. They were not allowed at his speech to the National Rifle Association (NRA). Nor were they allowed at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) or at most of his hotels, golf courses and other properties. But he wants them to be allowed at our public schools. |
