One almost can’t avoid a news story today about the recent dramatic increase in firearms and ammunition sales.
The reason for this as told by almost every gun store owner interviewed is that people “fear” that O bama and Congress will ban certain firearms. |

House Bill 1623 came up for a House vote this morning and was passed almost unanimously, 98-1 and one no show. Rep. Lindsley Smith was the only "no" vote, the same one that voted against it in Committee.
This is an overwhelming majority and should tell others that the House believes that the names of concealed carry permit holders have a reasonable expectation of privacy and irresponsible publication's "right to know" ends where our right to privacy begins.
Now the Bill will go to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

For the first time in American history, residents of the District of Columbia could get the right to have a voting member in the U.S. House of Representatives. Unfortunately, the NRA is holding that bill hostage with a killer amendment that would strip the District's elected officials of their ability to regulate the ownership and sale of guns to protect the public.
How do they justify robbing DC residents of the right to make their own gun laws as the price for finally giving them the right to a voting member in Congress? According to the NRA's top lobbyist Chris Cox, it is "to restore the Second Amendment rights to lawful residents of the District of Columbia."

Investigators believe that a Noblesville man shot his son Thursday morning in self defense and have filed charges against the son. Duane Baber, 44, will be charged with burglary and criminal confinement charges, according to Vicky Dunbar, Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy. Roy Baber, 69, is not facing charges...
The son held his father at gunpoint, but the elder Baber was able to go to a bedroom, where he had a 32 caliber pistol in the nightstand. Fearing for his life, Dunbar said, Duane Baber took the gun to defend himself. Duane Baber went at his father with the knife, and Roy Baber shot the younger man in the leg. Duane Baber then went after his father again with the knife and was shot a second time. |

First, several questions need to be asked.
1. Exactly what are you storing it for? For the Survivalist, it is food gathering (hunting) and home or self-defense.
2. How long will the situation causing the need last? Let’s assume TSHTF and commonsense says it will be 5 years. So for a baseline let’s use a five (5) year SHTF time frame.
3. Could buying and storing ammo be a legitimate investment like gold? Yes and very likely as a barter item for stuff you may need and can’t buy. In my case yes, it has because most was bought 8-10 years ago when .223’s were $125/1,000. |

"A large part of the reason most folks decide to carry a gun is personal protection. After that, they want to protect their family. Beyond that, they would really have to evaluate the situation before they would intervene. Did you know that by carrying a gun you help strangers everyday? Economists call it the substitution effect. When the possible number of people carrying a gun goes up, the criminals can't know who is carrying and who isn't. They sense that their job risk has gone up and they shift from confrontational crimes like robbery, murder, and rape to safer ones like car theft and burglary. ... |

The measure to at long last allow District of Columbia residents a voting member in the House has run afoul of the gun lobby that is determined to deny Washington another fundamental right: to regulate firearms... The gun lobby’s malevolence now extends to the House, where Democratic leaders suddenly pulled back a clean bill. The leadership is agonizing, trying to convince Democrats from pro-gun districts to resist gun lobby pressure for the dangerous amendment. “This is Democratic members doing something to kill a basic civil rights bill,” Eleanor Holmes Norton, the city’s nonvoting House delegate, complained to The Hill newspaper... Speaker Nancy Pelosi is in a political bind that calls for true leadership... |

1. If a student has a concealed permit and a concealed handgun in a classroom where someone intent on killing comes in and starts shooting, someone could get hurt by the student's gun.
2. Shooting firearms contributes to global warming.
3. God forbid that someone could be injured while breaking into your home.
4. Requiring the use of child safety locks for all guns will force gang members to use them when driving around town with guns.
5. The foreheads of all gun owners should be micro stamped for easy identification.
6. If all handguns were fired in one direction at once, the earth's orbit will shift.
7. If too many birds are killed by hunters, all we will have left to eat are clay pigeons... |

Prosecutors charged Lusher with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault. He also faces an illegal gun possession charge because he lost his right to possess a firearm following an earlier conviction on felony drug possession charges.
At the time, Lusher was wearing sheriff's office garb apparently issued to his father, a retired sergeant with the department.
In court documents, investigators assert that Lusher broke down the door with the butt of his rifle before accosting a woman living in the home. Police claim Lusher later admitted to officers he was looking for marijuana stolen from a friend of his.
After searching the North 138th Street home for several minutes, Lusher moved to leave, but the woman blocked him.

Police said Jason M. Lusher, 38, forced his way into a North Seattle home early Tuesday morning while armed with an AK-47-style assault rifle. At the time, Lusher was wearing Sheriff's Office garb apparently issued to his father, a retired sergeant with the department.
Lusher has a long criminal history that includes guilty pleas for negligent driving, obstructing a police officer and assault, court records show.
In his most recent Seattle Municipal Court case, the 38-year-old Seattle man pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer. The case was filed in September |
