While it has been almost three years since Illinois allowed citizens to carry concealed firearms, legislators from both parties continue to try to fine tune the law.
Lawmakers have proposed including public transportation, interstate highway rest areas controlled by the Illinois Department of Transportation and public parks and athletic facilities under the control of a park district or municipality as allowable areas to carry a concealed weapon. |

We were enjoying lunch at a North Augusta, South Carolina, restaurant recently when a potentially violent incident nearly broke out. We overheard a man telling his lady friend, odd as it sounds, that he should probably beat up another man seated nearby. “Why?” she asked him. Because of the company name on the man’s shirt, he told her. It was the name of a well-known national corporation. |

Five gun bills debated in committee at the Colorado Capitol on Monday night were voted down. The Democrat-led state House State, Veterans, and Military Affairs committee heard a package of Republican-sponsored gun bills. One bill would allow concealed carry on public school grounds. Another would repeal gun magazine limits that were adopted after the 2012 mass shootings at an Aurora movie theater and at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. A third bill would extend the right to use deadly force to business owners and employees. |

Karleigh Gause wasn’t happy. She hadn’t shot well with her air rifle during a January shooting match in Minot, and she’d missed qualifying for the Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she’d competed the previous year. Or so she thought at the time.

The West Virginia Senate on Saturday voted 23-11 to override Governor Earl Ray Tomblin's veto of House Bill 4145 [text], allowing civilians 21 and over to carry concealed weapons without a permit. The bill will now become law after the West Virginia House of Representatives voted 64-33 to override the veto. The bill amends the state's current concealed weapon statute by removing the permit and training program requirements to carry a concealed weapon. |

The announcement of the SIG Sauer P320, ironically was what made me realize that—in an era where everybody is jumping on the striker-fired bandwagon—the company didn’t have a striker-fired pistol. The SIG Sauer P320 might look a little familiar. That’s because the new gun is basically a striker-fired version of SIG’s P250, a modular-framed double action/single action introduced several years ago. |

With the proposed indoor gun range being a hot topic we thought we would address a couple issues.
There has been a great deal of concern for the safety of our school-age children and for the employees of surrounding business.
The range design is all indoors and completely enclosed and there is no danger of anyone being injured outside the facility. Safety procedures inside the building will be strictly enforced to prevent injury as well. |

The state Senate made no changes Monday to a bill that would legalize firearms at Georgia’s colleges, bringing it one step closer to passage when a chamber panel advanced the measure that would allow college students to carry guns on campus.
The move makes House Bill 859 eligible for a floor vote in the Senate later this week, and it sets up a scenario that could see final passage well before the Legislature ends its work this year on March 24.

A federal judge sided Monday with the District of Columbia in an ongoing dispute over the city's strict gun law, agreeing that the city can continue to enforce it while a lawsuit proceeds.
Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly denied a motion by opponents for a preliminary injunction halting enforcement of portions of the law. Opponents immediately said in a court filing that they are appealing the ruling to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

The NRA tweeted that Sanders was "spot-on" when, in a contentious exchange during CNN's Democratic presidential debate in Flint, Michigan, he defended his position favoring protection of gun manufacturers from legal liability over the use of their products.
"Sen. Sanders was spot-on in his comments about gun manufacturer liability/PLCAA," the organization wrote, linking to a story explaining the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act and Sanders' support for it. |

My first double-action .357 Magnum revolver was a Ruger Security-Six. That revolver was as strong a handgun as you could ask for, functioned perfectly, was accurate, and just felt right in my hand. I fired a bunch of rounds through that revolver over several years and never uttered a complaint. Foolishly, I traded that gun to one of my dad’s old friends who was in need of a good wheelgun. It’s been about 30 years, and, boy, do I miss that gun. The Ruger GP100 Match Champion makes up for that, though.
