The background check gun controls which were introduced in the House last week bring back Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) 2013 gun control push and make his support for the current legislation crucial to Democrat success. Manchin was elected to the Senate in 2010 with an A-rating from the NRA. But following the December 14, 2012, attack on Sandy Hook Elementary school he emerged as a leading gun control opponent in the Senate.

Yesterday, the Utah Legislature adjourned sine die from its 2021 session after passing two more self-defense bills. They are currently in the enrolling process to be sent to Governor Spencer Cox’s desk. House Bill 227, sponsored by Representative Karianne Lisonbee (R-14), improves Utah's self-defense laws by defining justifiable use of force, and establishing procedures for the applicability of the defense. Citizens who suffer the misfortune of having to use force to defend themselves and others should not be victimized a second time by the judicial system.

With Democrats in control of Congress and the White House, Americans can expect a series of progressive bills to be introduced. In a budget reconciliation process, the bills can be passed in the U.S. Senate with a simple majority. This is what happened with the $1.9 trillion monstrosity known as the COVID-19 relief bill. |

It's been around a year since the last gun show was held at the Allen County Fairgrounds due to the coronavirus pandemic. On Saturday, the gun show was back. "We were shut down for a year," said Tom Baemel, treasurer of the Tri-State Gun Collectors. "(It's) our first show since last March, and it feels real good to get back, and that's what it's about. We've got close to 2,000 members, and they want to come back. And we appreciate that; we really do as a club."

The AR-15 is one of America’s most-popular rifles. Easy to control, accurate and easy to shoot, it rewards a dedicated user with a shooting experience few other rifles can match. One of the keys to mastering the AR-15, however, is consistent grip with every shot. For many owners of AR-pattern guns, this means placing a hand stop or forward grip on the handguard of their guns. The Picatinny rail system has long been the standard method of attaching accessories to an AR-pattern gun. However, Magpul’s M-Lok system is now becoming more and more accepted by the firearms community.

The Chicago Sun Times reported that carjackings across the Windy City were down in February while the month saw shootings spike and police logged 31 homicides, while law-abiding Illinois citizens are having a hard time getting concealed carry licenses.
To remedy that, the Second Amendment Foundation and Illinois State Rifle Association along with four private citizens filed a lawsuit in federal district court against the Illinois State Police for failing to follow state law on issuing CCLs within the mandated time. |

The .50 Action Express cartridge is, without a doubt, one of the world’s most powerful pistol cartridges. It features a .500-inch bullet diameter (33mm) in a 1.285-inch straight-walled case that has a rebated rim. The overall length of the standard .50 AE round measures 1.610 inches, and the ammo is powered with a large pistol primer. According to the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI), the maximum pressure of .50 AE ammo should not exceed 36,000 pounds per square inch (psi). |

Another Lake Area county is serving notice the Second Amendment will be protected. Now Miller County’s making the same statement made earlier this year by Camden and Benton Counties. “It’s good when multiple counties start doing this. It sorta gets the word to Jefferson City that it’s something the whole state wants, not just us” says County Clerk Clinton Jenkins. |

Eric Swalwell has long been one of the more extreme anti-Second Amendment extremists currently in the United States Congress. He’s also been prone to making a lot of outlandish claims and for supporting a number of crazy items of legislation. He’s now in the news for suing President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL) and other Trump allies over the January 6 protests that turned violent.

Walther unleashed their Performance Duty Pistol, or PDP, to a flurry of media attention this year. When I got this handgun, I was immediately impressed by the look and feel of the gun. In recent years, we’ve seen manufacturers consistently try to get smaller and smaller with their carry guns. Walther has seemingly bucked that trend and unleashed a chunky double-stack pistol to much fanfare. Known for their great ergonomics and superb triggers in guns like the PPQ, Q4, and Q5, the new PDP had us wondering, “Can Walther keep up and put this new pistol on the same pedestal?” We’ve taken it through a deep dive, and we’ll give you our thoughts right now after 500 rounds. |

The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum hosted a Gun and Knife Show over the weekend. The show featured an exhibit of archery, guns, knives, military collectibles, and survival gear that could be bought or traded. The first time I met Burgess Owens, he was speaking to a small group at the beginning of what would prove to be a grueling, but ultimately successful, congressional campaign. Utah’s Fourth Congressional District ended up being one of the most-expensive and hotly contested races in the country. Owens was in front of a group of influencers gathered to meet the candidate and provide input and educated guesses on strategies that might turn a blue seat red.

The California Department of Justice, under Attorney General Xavier Becerra's leadership, is withholding vital firearm-related statistics from researchers at the UC Davis Firearm Violence Research Center, a prominent "gun violence prevention" program. The UCFC was established to study gun control policies and their impact on society. The researchers at UC Davis play a vital role in California's anti-gun agenda. They frequently recommend policies that are said to curb "firearm violence."

Walther's flagship pistol for the past century has been the PP series handgun and for good reason. It is both old-school cool and often overrated. The background of the gun is well established. Fritz Walter, the heir to the famed Carl Walther rifle works, moved in the early 1900s to expand the company into handguns with a line of simple blowback pocket pistols to compete with models like the Colt Vest Pocket and Pieper Bayard. Moving to more advanced designs using a workable single-action/double-action trigger system by the 1920s, the Polizei Pistole, or PP series, soon became a smash-hit, despite the fact it was twice as much as the company's earlier models. |
