An Arizona homeowner shot and killed a suspected intruder and injured another man when the duo tried to break into a house Saturday, police said.
"That's when the homeowner shot them. One of them passed away from their injuries and the other was taken to the hospital,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said, adding that anyone with information regarding the incident should contact authorities.
The homeowner told AZFamily.com in a brief interview that he won't hesitate to defend himself again in a future break-in. |

In this country, gun bans are not the answer, but neither is loosening restrictions on who can and can’t own guns, which makes a move Thursday by some Ohio House Republicans — and even supported by Gov. Mike DeWine — all the more puzzling. Nearly half of Ohio’s House Republicans are pushing for passage of a new bill that gives all law-abiding Ohians the right to carry a concealed weapon without going through a permit process or training. If this reckless bill becomes law, anyone over 21 — not disqualified by federal law due to a felony conviction or other offense from obtaining a weapon — would be able to legally carry a hidden gun. |

Late yesterday, the Judiciary Committee announced yet another change to Monday's agenda for their gun control hearing, this time limiting the amount of time for consideration on AB 291, the omnibus gun control bill, and a time change for AB 153, to impose one-size-fits-all standards for firearm storage. This sudden change seems to signal an alarming trend where legislation impacting our Second Amendment rights gets rushed through a single joint committee hearing instead of separate hearings in each chamber like other legislation. |

It is worthwhile to question how criminals get their guns. To paint those who are for gun regulations that might prevent even some of the wrong people from getting firearms as anti-gun and anti-freedom is nothing but propaganda. To question their motives as not about guns but about control is just paranoia.
It is absolutely about guns. It’s about trying to establish sensible controls to reduce gun violence. I am too tired and have enough on my plate to want to control something for the sake of having control. But as a mom and as a human being who cares about the countless lives lost to gun violence every day, it is hard to say, not my problem. |

County commissions across New Mexico have declared their communities “second amendment sanctuaries” following complaints that new state gun laws violate constitutional rights.
But the Bernalillo County Commission is not among them – a distinction several people noted during last week’s board meeting.
About a half-dozen people took to the podium during public comment last Tuesday to urge the five-member elected board to put a sanctuary resolution on the agenda at an upcoming meeting. They described similar action by almost every other county commission in New Mexico. |
