Gun rights advocates who are usually unified on gun legislation split Thursday on a bill that would add some mental health records to gun background checks. New Hampshire is one of several states that does not report that information to the federal background database, though federal law prohibits individuals who’ve been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility from purchasing or possessing firearms. |

A week before my mom passed away, she taught me how to shoot a firearm. As a long-time firearms instructor, she trained thousands of Coloradans and passed on to me the vital importance of gun safety and self-defense. I followed in my mom’s footsteps and opened Elite Firearms & Training. Every day, I work to carry on her legacy, equipping men and women to protect— from harm. |

Carrying a gun for defensive purposes, with an empty chamber, is a controversial measure which proponents claim enhances safety. It is one of the reasons handguns appear to work better for self defense against bears than long guns. Long guns are more commonly carried with an empty chamber than are handguns. Handguns are more commonly carried for self defense than long guns. A recent bear attack illustrates the problem of carrying a long gun with an empty chamber. |

Hanging on a wall inside the office of a Southfield church is a sculpture that reads "Peace" made out of the parts of what was once a gun. On a table in front, the Very Rev. Chris Yaw of St. David's Episcopal Church laid out on Good Friday some other pieces of art he recently collected, made from guns collected at buybacks: a cross made of barrels, a necklace fashioned from pieces of a gun grip, and a small plowshare crafted from gun pieces symbolizing the Bible verse about turning swords into plowshares. |

Noveske is a well known brand in the American 2A world, having made quite the reputation in the early 2000s for innovation and quality. In 2013 founder John Noveske died, and a huge portion of the surviving Noveske brain trust left the company shortly after. Rumors of a loss of quality have spread online, but is that the case or is it the lionization of an industry great? |

Smith & Wesson has been in the business of self-defense and carry guns since the company was founded back in 1852. Over the years, some would say that S&W has perfected the carry gun, and certainly, few companies offer as vast a collection as Smith & Wesson. That said, there is often confusion as to what are some of the more popular or sought-after carry guns from S&W. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775]. |
