"The judgment I initially formed about you has only been cemented with this latest subversive defeatism you've injected into the 'conservative' dialog, Michael:

"Anyone wasting time or money following this obnoxious carnival barker is chasing a sterile queen bee. If you've ever bought one of his books, congratulations. You just helped finance the further enslavement of ourselves and our posterity."

"Previous articles noted that gun rights groups contribute very little money to federal election campaigns, and that there appears to be a link between law firm contributions and Nancy Pelosi's support for firearms registration. Looking at the entire House of Representatives, pro-rights voting records and law firm contributions negatively correlate, meaning that as law firm money comprises a greater percentage of a candidate's total campaign fund, the more likely they are to vote against the civil right of self-defense."

"All winning 2008 House candidates' campaign contributions ... were correlated with the National Rifle Association's grading system (as an indicator of relative pro-rights voting records). ..." ...

... "... There is a dramatic difference between having tools and having intent. While this truth should apply to fishing gear or guns in parks, it is also one of the fundamental flaws in the thinking of hoplophobes and their attacks on individual rights – that having tools and using tools is the same thing."

"I recall a story of a hoplophobic politician or reporter who, looking at the firing line at Camp Perry saw hundreds of 'potential assassins' rather than hundreds of dedicated sportsmen, patriots, and potential defenders of the nation. That distorted perception demonstrates a level of fundamental human distrust which is simply astounding. ..." ...

"Will there be a concerted push for a federal ban of so-called 'assault weapons,' or won't there? The answer seems to depend on whom you ask, and even when you ask. Attorney General Eric Holder, for example, said back in February:"
"'As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,' Holder told reporters."
"Holder also said during his confirmation hearings that he believed that such a ban would not run afoul of the Second Amendment, even after the Supreme Court's Heller decision made Constitutional protection of the right of the individual to own guns a settled point of law." ...

"Border security and gun control? No problem here. Got both. In fact, I have virtually perfected both culture war issues at Ground Nuge to the point of untouchable. You see, even though I am just a guitar player, these are the tip-o-the-spear culture war lies I have railed against for more than forty years. I control my borders, and I control my guns. Wild, huh?"

"Take, for example, the fact that the Nugent property has never been invaded, for we, like all life loving, law abiding Americans we know, have sent out a loud and clear message that even mentally deficient felon wannabes understand without pushing "1" for English: Invade my home, and I will kill you. Case closed. No invasions and no one killed. Perfect." ...

"Sheldon told reporters that 'It's always open season on criminals in Mason County, and there's no bag limit.'" ...

"Horrified officials with the Mason County Sheriff's Department, along with reporters ... were pretty quick on the draw, suggesting that Sheldon was promoting vigilantism." ...

"Why would the sheriff's department associate an act of self-defense as vigilantism?" ...

"Gun control had its heyday in this country. Decades of scare mongering by the anti-gun forces lead to an increasing tide of gun rights restrictions until the mid-eighties. After these civil rights infringements failed to live up to their hype and stop crime, U.S. citizens began demanding that their gun rights be returned. ..."

"With each lessening of gun rights infringements, the gun control movement predicted doom and gloom. "America's more than 80 million gun owners have been listening to Media for decades. We have witnessed the decay of Citizens' rights – all of our rights beginning with gun rights, of course – for two generations at least. We know hostility when we see it. "One such outlet, the George Soros-funded Clinton front group Think Progress, offered the following hysterical headline hours after the shootings:"

"On Saturday I wrote a column called 'Pitchforks and Pistols.' In it I discussed the fact that some of the right’s talking heads are talking about an armed revolt. At the same time, their claim that President Obama wants to take away people's guns is helping to fuel the panic buying of firearms. This is a combustible combination."

"For proof of that, I looked no further than my email inbox over the last few days. So, I have decided to publish excerpts from some of those e-mails. Crazy stuff methinks." ...

"In my column I wrote of this far right group: 'They're apocalyptic. They feel isolated, angry, betrayed and besieged.' Confirmed."

Submitter's Note: So Holder's call for a new AWB was a hoax? Pelosi's promise to 'pick the time and the place, no question about it' to renew the AWB is just hot air? And the White House website was hacked and they don't really mean it when it says "[Obama and Biden] also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent"? And we're apocalyptic?!?

"Thirteen people were killed last week in Binghamton, N.Y., when a gunman, identified by authorities as 41-year-old Jiverly Wong, executed a mass shooting at the American Civic Association. The aftermath of that bloodshed has raised many questions, including whether armed, everyday citizens could take down such a gunman and save lives. Could you protect yourself if you only had a gun?"

FULL TEXT BELOW:

New York's mayor and relatives of Virginia Tech massacre victims are releasing a new television ad next week urging the state to close a gun show loophole.

The second anniversary of the shooting is next Thursday.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg will join victims' relatives in Arlington on Monday to release the ad.

It calls for Virginia to end a practice allowing what are called 'occasional sellers' at gun shows to sell weapons without conducting background checks.

KABA Note: Fine. If you aren't going to follow the Constitution and get rid of NICS and FFLs completely, then drop the price of a FFL back to $5, give 'em out to anyone who can pass a NICS check and get rid of the insanely draconian punishments for paperwork errors. That way every seller can perform a check.

... "In today's complicated world, with the Asian giants rising and seeking raw materials, maybe we should pay more attention. Maybe sending the Marines isn't the answer to every problem. Since World War II, the Pentagon has displayed a nearly solid record of failure in fighting either drugs or peasants with AKs. We do not need to blunder into new and better Afghanistans. We seem to want to, though, and it will bring more leftists to power. In the last election here, a truly nutball leftist ... came within a few chads of being president of Mexico. Hugo Chavez thrives on American hostility. We treat Cuba as an enemy and, sure enough, it acts like one. None of this is in the American national interest, boys and girls. It's just brainless."
