Senators of the 37th Guam Legislature were in support of increasing penalties for individuals convicted of illegally using firearms.
On Tuesday, lawmakers heard public testimony for Bill 79-37, which would increase the sentencing range for those convicted of using a firearm while committing a crime.
The bill was introduced by Sen. Thomas Fisher who briefly explained the measure is a response to the gun violence that appears to be directly linked to the illegal drug trade on island. |

An emotionally charged debate over Oregon’s gun-related legislation recently brought lawmakers on different sides of the issue near tears, reflecting a passionate divide over gun rights that is also playing out nationwide.
One of the most sweeping bills being proposed in the politically diverse state — the one that led to highly personal speeches from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers at a committee hearing last week — would increase the purchasing age to 21 for AR-15s and similar types of guns, impose penalties for possessing undetectable firearms and allow for more limited concealed-carry rights. |

Instead, the jury’s decision and how it was reached have become the focus of new scrutiny by defense lawyers and, at the direction of Gov. Greg Abbott, investigators from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.
In the days since the verdict was announced on Friday, investigators from Mr. Perry’s defense team have contacted jurors, visiting some at home, as they seek to show that at least one of them relied improperly on information not presented during the trial. The new efforts came after the governor suggested on Saturday that the verdict was wrong, and said that he would grant Mr. Perry a pardon for the killing. |

The Tennessee Firearms Association is trashing Gov. Bill Lee’s push for what it calls a “red flag law,” saying he wants to pass an unconstitutional measure as an emotional reaction to the Covenant School shooting.
“Governor Lee called for the Legislature to react to the emotional response of some citizens after the Covenant murders and more particularly after the expulsion of two Democrat House members who demanded gun control,” Executive Director John Harris said in a Wednesday statement. “Nothing in Bruen authorized knee-jerk emotional responses to murders or the calls of progressive Democrats and their mobs to justify government infringement of a right protected by the Constitution.” |

The Iowa House of Representatives passed HF 654, allowing the possession of firearms in privately-owned vehicles in the parking lots of facilities where weapons are not permitted.
The vote on Wednesday afternoon was 62 to 37, primarily along party lines, but State Reps. Chad Ingels, R-Randalia, and Gary Mohr, R-Bettendorf, joined the 35 Democrats present to vote against the bill.
Specifically, the bill allows firearms and ammunition to be out of sight in locked vehicles in publicly accessible, non-secure parking lots of jails, correctional facilities, or other government property. |

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between FOX News and CNN or MSNBC, especially when the topic is guns, especially after a mass shooting.
For at least seven years, FOX News has been citing fake mass-shooting data from the Gun Violence Archive – an anti-gun nonprofit we debunked years ago – in its digital and broadcast news stories. The reason is simple. The GVA inflates body counts, sometimes by more than 1,000%, so its overblown data has become catnip for the legacy media, which is constantly seeking more sensational headlines and news stories. |

The ongoing gun epidemic in the United States became even more deadly during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the rates of firearm homicides and suicides during 2021 were the highest since 1993. The new poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), a non-profit focusing on health research, shows that one in five Americans (21%) have been personally threatened with a gun.
Nearly one in five (19%) reported their family member being killed by a gun, including death by suicide. A similar amount (17%) said they have personally witnessed someone being shot. Some 4% of respondents have personally shot a gun in self-defense, and a similar share (4%) have been injured in a shooting. |

The era of the double-action (DA) revolver dominated both the American police and armed private citizen handgun markets is long gone, as the semiautomatic pistol mass transition took place way back in the 1980s. That said, even in 2023, the DA wheelgun still has its place in self-defense usage, especially in the realm of concealed carry applications. Let’s now take a deeper look at the five best snubnose revolvers for CCW purposes. |

Most of us Montanans probably had the talk with our parents, or we've had the talk with our kids. Look, we don't want you getting into trouble or getting into fights at school- but, you have the right to defend yourself. But do they?
In Montana, we have self defense laws on the books. If a kid is walking on the streets of Montana, they have the right to defend themselves. But if they're walking in the halls of a public school- they may not have the right to defend themselves. According to two Montana parents who went public to Fox News, if their kid stands up to the bully that is bullying them- they get in trouble too. |

Recently, North Carolinians were handed a major Second Amendment victory: the General Assembly repealed pistol purchase permits; and rightfully so. The Jim Crow-era law was a stain on our great state, and it deserves to be relegated to the trash bins of history. That said, the General Assembly can and should do more.
It is time for North Carolina to join the growing trend of states that have embraced constitutional carry (also known as permit-less carry), a policy that allows law-abiding citizens to carry firearms openly or concealed without the need for a state permit. Constitutional carry is not only a constitutional right, but it also promotes personal safety, individual freedom, and responsible gun ownership. |

The popularity and focus on “vehicle tactics” comes and goes among the civilian self-defense community. The interest in this niche topic escalates during times of civil unrest, such as we witnessed in the summer of 2020. Law enforcement and certain military groups have a much more focused and consistent interest in anything related to fighting around vehicles, obviously. However, there are certain basics that a civilian concealed carrier, or anyone interested in personal protection, should know related to vehicles. Most Americans spend a considerable amount of time in the automobile. For most, many hours of the week are actually spent behind the wheel. |
