The NRA announced its endorsement of Gov. Kay Ivey on Monday for reelection, praising her support of the permitless carry bill that passed a month ago.
“Gov. Ivey’s commitment to the Second Amendment has never been in question,” said NRA lobbyist Art Thomm. “Nowhere has that support been more evident than when, earlier this spring, she swiftly signed House Bill 272, Alabama’s constitutional carry. The time it took for her to sign that bill from its passage, I believe set a record.” |

Today, Gov. Brian Kemp signed S.B. 319, constitutional carry, into law. Georgia is now the 25th constitutional carry state, and the fourth to join that group in 2022. Half of the country now recognizes the right of a law-abiding adult who is legally allowed to carry a concealed firearm, to do so without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have the right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Constitutional carry goes into effect immediately. |

Spring turkey hunting season starts on Monday, April 18th in the show-me state. With the beginning of the season just a few days away, it may be harder to find the ammunition that you need for a reasonable price.
“The ammunition is a little bit harder to come by,” says TJ Taylor, owner of All About Guns in Springfield. “They’re making a lot more defensive rounds in 12 gauge and 20 gauge, but, not so many turkey rounds. So, your shot that you need to use to kill the turkey is a little bit more scarce and harder to find.” |

I know these traditions are shared by many Pennsylvanians, and there is no denying that our outdoor heritage is an inseparable part of the American story. While many Americans own firearms for hunting and to put food on the table, the Second Amendment is about defending ourselves, our freedoms, our property, and the people we love. Indeed, we would not be the United States of America today without the brave patriots who picked up their muskets to fight for the birth of a free nation nearly two and a half centuries ago — and the generations of Americans who have taken up arms to defend liberty here at home and around the world ever since. |

Regardless of whether you have a permit, it soon may be illegal to carry a concealed gun in city parks and buildings.
The ban would apply to buildings leased by the city as well as those owned by the city. The ban also must be followed by those who lease property from the city, such as homeless shelters.
The Denver City Council discussed the proposed ban Wednesday during its Safety, Housing, Education and Homelessness Committee meeting. Members of the committee decided to leave the proposed law in committee at least two more weeks while staff rounds up data asked for by council members. |

The co-hosts of ABC’s liberal daytime gabfest “The View” spent an entire segment of Wednesday’s show railing against the Second Amendment and blaming it for gun violence across the U.S.
The segment, which began with Tuesday’s attack by a gunman on the New York City subway, consisted of the liberal co-hosts lamenting laws being passed in Republican states allowing for concealed carry without a permit and claiming other Western countries don’t experience levels of gun violence seen in the U.S. because they have no protections for gun rights. |

One of the most intriguing stories from the Great War was Medal of Honor winner Alvin York dispatching 5 enemy soldiers who were charging his position. Armed only with a government-issue .45-caliber 1911, Sgt. York displayed great marksmanship and brilliant tactics. Instead of shooting the closest soldier and most imminent threat first, he started with the furthest soldier and worked forward. None of the approaching Germans saw the men behind them fall and continued the attack thinking that Sgt. York was shooting wildly and missing. Had the sergeant started at the front of the formation, the others would have seen his success and taken cover. Now you have a gunfight with 3 or 4 riflemen behind cover against one lone pistolero. Not good! |

A neck knife is a smaller fixed-blade knife that’s carried by suspending the sheath from your neck with a cord or chain. Its widespread use is such that it’s almost impossible to narrow down its exact origins, but cultures all over the world had their own variants, from indigenous peoples to the Vikings. They’re frequently used for utilitarian purposes, though there are variants designed as last-ditch blades for self-defense, frequently in the form of a push-dagger or karambit. |

“Citizens in 21 states can now legally carry concealed firearms for self-defense without a permit,” he writes, noting that in September 2021, Texas became the most recent state to enact the legislation.
“Thus, hundreds of thousands of otherwise law-abiding citizens regularly violate the GFSZA as they go about their everyday lives in urban and suburban areas across the United States.”
Under the GFSZA, it is a federal crime punishable by up to five years in prison for possessing a firearm within 1,000 feet of any K-12 school, unless “licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located.”
The constitutionality of the federal legislation was, ironically, first challenged in Texas. |

A 31-year-old man walked into a Clermont-area apartment “uninvited” and was shot to death by a resident in what Lake County Sheriff’s deputies believe could be a Stand Your Ground incident, a spokesman said Wednesday.
The shooting took place Tuesday in the Cagan Crossings apartment complex near Clermont.
Lt. Fred Jones with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said authorities responded to several 911 calls regarding gunshots being fired around noon. When officers arrived, they found Dejuan McWilliams dead with multiple wounds inside 36-year-old Christopher Deloatch’s third-floor apartment. |

At the time, the Wyoming Gun Owners had come out in opposition of a pro gun rights bill Hicks was sponsoring. Senate File 102 – Second Amendment Protection Act, which later became law, prohibits state officials from enforcing federal firearms regulations. The gun owners group, founded more than a decade ago by Sen. Anthony Bouchard (R-Cheyenne), was supporting a similar bill, Senate File 87 – Second Amendment Preservation Act. That bill had a big distinction — it let residents sue cops — and it failed during the Wyoming Legislature’s 2022 Budget Session.
Hicks had drawn WyGO’s ire in years past. But he’d never experienced the flood of correspondence that came when his bill was being worked in committee. |

Gov. Henry McMaster has signed a law adding South Carolina to a list of states seeking to amend the U.S. Constitution through a first-ever national convention, saying he's convinced that opponents' fears of a runaway convention won't happen.
"I do not think these serious theoretical concerns warrant opposing a narrowly tailored" convention of states, McMaster, a Republican, wrote in a two-page letter April 13 explaining his decision, which came hours ahead of his midnight deadline to act. |

Since the 1960s, “law and order” has been a rhetorical banner used to divide our society along racial lines. We would do well to think more about security and justice as preludes to a coherent approach to fighting crime — more effective policing and police reform efforts, stronger gun laws and greater access to mental health care. We need to deal with crime’s social causes, too.
It’s maddening that doing the obvious thing — strengthening our gun laws — is off the table. Our permissive gun statutes are insane, which is why no other advanced democracy has anything like them. |

Texas pro-gun activists and political leaders are condemning President Joe Biden’s announcement of a new effort to regulate “ghost guns.”
Biden announced Monday that his administration would set more strict regulations for unregulated, untraceable weapons made from kits.
Known as “ghost guns," these weapons are particularly frustrating to policymakers and gun regulators because they can be purchased online, which means they can be bought by anyone regardless of their age or criminal record. |
