While THE TRACE, another Bloomberg creation, is touting a bogus study that attempts to claim guns are used more in suicides than for self defense, facts show otherwise.

According to data from an extensive study by Dr. Gary Kleck, Professor of Criminology at Florida State University, a firearm is used in self-defense approximately 2 million times a year. Don't believe Dr. Kleck? Even the very liberal, anti-gun CDC apparently admits to over 1 million self-defense uses of a firearm a year.

The notion that people are ultimately the ones who are responsible for their safety is starting to take hold once again in this country. Americans are fortunate to have some of the best-trained law enforcement officers in the world protecting them. The problem is, none of us have one of those officers assigned to us 24 hours a day. Because of this reality, the concealed carry of a handgun is becoming more prevalent. More states are enacting laws to support it, some—with what’s called Constitutional Carry—even allow it without a permit.

“It’s been overwhelming,” said Crosshairs Texas co-owner Troy Michalik. “I cannot tell you a number of absolute first-time gun buyers that have been in the store, looking for some sort of self-protection.”

“Just background checks alone, matched with what the ATF and FBI were saying about their crisis, is trying to keep up,” added Devon Michalik, Crosshairs Texas co-owner.

The couple quickly learned they needed to improvise how they do business.

The process of becoming a concealed carrier is far more complex than merely obtaining a concealed-carry license (where required). Once that is accomplished, one must then decide what handgun type—revolver or semi-automatic—will be carried. Then the caliber has to be chosen, and then what ammunition to use.

Frank Pallotta, the Republican candidate in the 5th congressional district, issued the following statement regarding Governor Phil Murphy’s nationally broadcasted interview last evening with Tucker Carlson:

“When asked on what authority did he act to nullify portions of the Bill of Rights — specifically the arrests of 15 congregants for worshipping at a synagogue, Governor Phil Murphy said: “That’s above my pay grade….” and “I wasn’t thinking of the Bill of Rights when we did this.”

HR 6318, The Urban Progress Act, introduced by Representative Robin Kelly (D-IL), is one of those omnibus bills. The good news is, it’s been recently introduced, and with the text online, we can locate the problematic aspects of this bill, and expose them to the disinfectant of sunlight.

One thing to note: This bill has been referred to nine committees. In addition to the House Judiciary Committee, eight others will get a bite at this bill. That’s a lot of chefs in the kitchen. But one portion should be of particular note: Title III, titled “Common Sense Gun Violence Prevention.”

The general counsel of a Georgia organization dedicated to unfettered gun rights has filed two more lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the state’s weapons carry law.

While U.S. District Judge Steve Jones ponders Dawsonville attorney John Monroe’s effort on behalf of a member of GeorgiaCarry.Org to suspend a state law requiring a license to carry a handgun in public, Monroe on Thursday filed a second federal lawsuit seeking to permanently bar enforcement of that law as a Second Amendment infringement.

What would normally be broad constitutional protections for freedoms of assembly, religion — even buying guns — have their limits when they endanger others during the coronavirus pandemic, California’s top law enforcement officer said in an interview.

The state has been sued over all three during its shutdown as government officials pick winners and losers in deciding which businesses and activities can operate and which can't.

Over the last few years Taurus has been in the process of revamping its striker-fired pistol lineup, a process that began with the G2 and continued with the G2c. Compared to previous models, the G2’s improved ergonomics, build quality and reliability paved a way for Taurus guns to come, and when Taurus wanted a new full-size striker-fired pistol, it already had a successful platform in place. Enter the G3.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to dominate our nation’s headlines and the concerns of most Americans. In the pro-Second Amendment community, we’ve watched a seemingly never-ending deluge of developments that could, or would, have an impact on our right to keep and bear arms. And, of course, that means a potential impact on our right to self-defense.

The Gun Owners of America, based in Virginia, joined more than a dozen other gun stores and manufacturers in suing Baker and Healey, claiming their Second Amendment rights have been violated and their businesses are suffering “immediate, irreparable, injuries,” according to the lawsuit.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
I have not one doubt, even if I am in agreement with the National Rifle Association, that that kind of record keeping procedure [gun registration] is the first step to eventual confiscation under one administration or another. —CHARLES MORGAN, DIRECTOR, WASHINGTON DC ACLU
