On July 1, residents with a clean criminal history of legal age in Florida will be able to carry concealed without a permit. When the law goes into effect, the state will be the 26th that recognizes the right. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the measure on April 3. “You don’t need a permission slip from the government to be able to exercise your constitutional rights,” he told reporters the day the measure was approved by the state senate and headed to his desk for signature.

This week I noticed that Henry Repeating Arms has announced a new firearm, a double-action revolver in .357 Magnum. Clearly, the manufacturing moguls seem to think that the market is ripe for a return to revolvers. The new Colt Python seems to be doing well. Vintage Smith & Wesson revolvers continue to rise in value. And Ruger’s DA sixguns still share a big part of the market. The general chatter among defensive shooters also seems to indicate that DA revolvers are long from being dead. |

Last weekend marked Oklahoma’s two-day turkey hunting season for youth hunters 17 and younger. This week the season allows hunters statewide to get into the woods and harvest a gobbler. According to the Wildlife Department any harvested turkey must be tagged in the field and checked in using the online E-Check system. The bag limit for a wild turkey is one tom turkey, which is defined as any bearded turkey.

America’s hunting traditions are under attack.
Driven by extreme, radical “ animal rights” activists who want to ban hunting and fishing as we know it, these attacks are spreading in state legislatures around the country. Family traditions that include the right to provide for ourselves are at risk. An idea that our Founding Fathers once would have seen as “unthinkable” is now headed toward the mainstream.

A bill to establish a procedure for removing firearms from those deemed to be an “immediate and present danger” to themselves or others has been introduced in the Alabama Legislature. State Sen. Merika Coleman, D-Pleasant Grove, has brought similar ‘red flag’ legislation in the past when she was a member of the House of Representatives. During a recent appearance on APT’s Capitol Journal, Coleman said she hopes to work across the aisle and with law enforcement to make this proposal a reality.

Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has been a lightning rod for controversy since she first for office in 2020. Viewed by many as a joke, the Congresswoman has competed with the likes of Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) for the most “MAGA” elected female in the House. |

My first "real" gun was a Ruger 10/22, which shoots 22 long rifle, while my first concealed carry pistol was a Smith & Wesson 9mm Shield. My grandfather owns a varmint gun chambered in 22 Mag, which we often shot growing up. |

Let’s be honest about one thing, the 5.56 NATO/223 Remington is a battle-proven cartridge that has valiantly served the US military for decades. The 5.56’s effectiveness is well documented, and it is one of, if not the, most popular centerfire rifle cartridges in North America. |

As the comfortable and worn adage illustrates professional basketball’s aversion to defense, the actors orchestrating a ballet of dunks and three pointers through the cumbersome hierarchy of players, coaches, and the front office are also oblivious to the concept of reasonable self-defense. |

Over 300 booths were set up in a hall in the Monument this weekend for people to buy, sell, and trade guns plus some other unique items. The Monument was packed from wall to wall with tables. From antique decorations to high-quality knives there was a lot for someone interested in outdoor activities. Some of these items may come as a surprise to those simply interested in attending for guns. One vendor even compared this show to shops in the area because of the range of items for sale.

We’ve published a few stories on the M1 Garand here at Guns.com, so I thought it would be fun to do a more personal review of one of these classic American battle rifles that found its way into our Certified Used Vault. There’s no question the M1 Garand is still cherished by collectors and shooting enthusiasts alike. But is it still relevant today? How well has it stood the test of time? Let’s take a closer look. |
