"As I opened up an e-copy of the Washington Times today, the headline read: 'Federal agency warns of radicals on right.' Many ... commentators are up in arms claiming that this is a direct attack against conservatives. I beg to differ. It is an attack against Americans!"

"The Department of Homeland Security is warning 'law enforcement officials' (jackbooted criminal types) about a rise in 'rightwing extremist activity,' but a footnote ... defines rightwing extremism as 'including ... groups that (don't miss this part) reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.' If I’m interpreting this correctly, this report is going after anyone who dares to question federal authority. ..." ...

"You won't hear it from the allegedly mainstream media, but Sunday, April 19 is 'Patriots’ Day.' They will not admit they derive the freedom to say what they want, even to undermine the principles of the U.S. Constitution, thanks to the patriots who fought, this day in 1775, at the battles of Lexington and Concord, beginning the American Revolution which created independence, and eventually the constitutional republic which protects those freedoms." ...

"Most appropriate to the occasion, the Oath Keepers, the association of law enforcement and military personal so dedicated to the Constitution that they have published a list of ten orders they will not obey, will reaffirm the Oath to the Constitution on that day. "All gun owners are familiar with the 17th century maxim, 'Keep your powder dry.' But if we expect to be gun owners in the 21st century, we have to update that to read, 'Keep your powder—and all the rest of your ammunition—at all.' That’s because politicians who want to ban guns, but who don't have the votes in Congress and state legislatures, are trying to achieve the same effect by banning the manufacture, importation, sale and possession of as much ammunition as possible, and severely restricting the rest."

"In the last year, so-called 'encoded' or 'serialized' ammunition bills have been introduced in 13 states ... Their goal: Destroy our Right to Keep and Bear Arms." ...

"Having backed off--for now--from the politically difficult push for a ban of so-called 'assault weapons,' President Obama hopes to assuage Mexican President Felipe Calderón's disappointment with a promise to push the Senate to ratify the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and other Related Materials, a treaty signed in 1997, but never ratified in the U.S." ...

"I am sure some of you remember reading my previous post back in 2008 'Glock 19 perfection in a 9mm' where I touted the piece of Austrian plastic as the best mid-sized handgun on the market. Well from time to time something drastic comes along uprooting long held beliefs and prejudices, for me that something was the Springfield XD9."

"A few months ago I was lusting over the contents of a display case of various handguns at the local sporting goods store. When the XD caught my eye and I had to take a look. But he is standing still, pointedly refusing to push ideas he supported as a candidate – reasonable ideas such as requiring criminal background checks on buyers at gun shows and reinstating the federal ban on assault weapons." ...

"That's not in the works, though. As the president pointed out, 'none of us are under any illusion that reinstating that ban would be easy.'"

"At one point in my life, I was a card-carrying member of the NRA and considered becoming a life member of that group. But when the NRA helped defeat legislation that would prohibit or restrict the purchase of armor-piercing bullets, I had a change of heart." ...

"What I see now is a hysteria being created by the NRA and gun enthusiasts, hysteria that is causing the obsessed to buy as many guns and as much ammunition as they can so they’ll be prepared when the Obama administration bans guns." ...

"We've all seen the news stories about how retail sales of firearms have been at record levels ever since Barack Obama won the election. Two primary reasons have been cited for this spike in ownership, uncertainty about the economy leading to fears of increased crime and the concern that the Obama administration will move to reinstate the 'Assault Weapons Ban' which expired in 2004."

"Many of those stories have quoted anti-gun pundits as saying gun owners are being paranoid and that the new government isn't out to ban guns. ..." ...

Barack Obama way wrong on U.S. guns in Mexico: FactCheck.org

On his recently-concluded first visit to Mexico, a week after telling Europeans that his country was at times arrogant, President Barack Obama blamed his own country for providing 90% of Mexico's recovered crime guns.

According to a report by the independent FactCheck.org this afternoon, that's incorrect. By a, uh, long shot.

The president's assertion and the reported inaccuracy seems likely to fuel the eternal American gun control debate, especially as it relates to the U.S. role in Mexico's deadly drug world." ...

"Speaking to reporters while standing alongside Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon in Mexico City on April 16, President Barack Obama said he would push the U.S. Senate to ratify a treaty called the Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials. The convention, known by Spanish acronym CIFTA, was by inter-American countries including the United States in 1997 and then submitted the following year to the U.S. Senate for ratification. Like all treaties, it would require a two-thirds majority (67 votes) in the upper house to secure ratification." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: For those not familiar with this treaty, it would require handloaders and reloaders to have a government license. You would also require a license to assemble or even modify a weapon. Want to put scope rings on your pistol? Get a license. Want to change scopes? Get a license. Want to replace a bad trigger or broken spring? Get a license. New stock? Get a license. And depending on how strictly the treaty is read, you would need a government license to so much as load a semi-automatic!

"Meeting face-to-face with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, President Obama on Thursday said the U.S. is to blame for much of Mexico's drug violence, and he set up a major congressional gun-control battle by calling on the Senate to ratify a treaty designed to track and cut the flow of guns to other countries."

"Mr. Obama said he wants to renew a ban on some semiautomatic weapons but that it is not likely to pass Congress. ..."

"'I will not pretend that this is Mexico's responsibility alone. ...' Mr. Obama said ... 'This war is being waged with guns purchased not here, but in the United States. More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States ...'" ...

KABA Note: We would never accuse the President of the United States of being too stupid to understand simple facts or too incompetent to check them, so we can only conclude that he is simply lying to support an otherwise unsupportable anti-gun agenda.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that. I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston
