The 7.62x39 Russian and the 30-30 Winchester are two centerfire 30-caliber rifle cartridges that are extremely similar in terms of their external and terminal ballistics. Despite their similarities, these two rifle cartridges were designed for completely different purposes and rifles.

While the AR-15 is “America’s Rifle,” its bigger and badder sibling has been increasing in popularity lately. What rifle am I referring to, exactly? That would be the AR-10. The two rifles may be similar in many ways, but they have one major difference. The AR-10 is chambered in significantly more powerful calibers, most commonly .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 7.62x51mm NATO.

This is the busiest time of year for professional shooter, wife, mother and Army veteran, Julie Golob. She is hosting classes and training hard for the upcoming competition season, which begins later this month. She did not have much time to devote to a controversy that surfaced last week, when her image and personal information were misappropriated for a social media post by the anti-gun group, 97Percent, as part of its campaign to gaslight the public into falsely believing it is a moderate pro-gun group.

During the first three years Colorado’s “red flag” law was in effect, judges approved more than two-thirds of the petitions seeking the removal of guns from people believed to be dangerous, according to a study released Monday. But the approval rate was much lower in the 37 counties whose leaders declared them Second Amendment sanctuaries before the law took effect on Jan. 1, 2020.

The ATF can’t go after NRA members over guns with pistol braces on them. That’s the outcome of a preliminary injunction issued by a federal judge on Friday. US District Judge Sam A. Lindsay sided with the gun-rights group and enjoined the federal agency from enforcing its rule reclassifying pistol-brace-equipped guns as short barrel rifles (SBRs) under the 1934 National Firearms Act (NFA).

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird joined 26 other attorney generals in signing a brief urging the United State Supreme Court to deny Illinois's ban on AR-15s and other semi-automatic rifles.

The State of Illinois passed a law banning the manufacture, importation, sale and ownership of assault weapons, including AR-15s and standard-capacity magazines in 2023.

At least four people are dead, and 23 others were hurt following shootings across Chicago during Easter weekend as of Sunday. The ages of the victims range from 14 to 57.
