How Will Gun Grabbers Spin the Boston Bombing Suspects?

"As Chris Matthews furiously Googles to see if — somehow — the Boston Chechnyan bombing suspects were members of a nascent Tea Party cell in Grozny, we’re getting conflicting information as to how long the suspects have been in the country. The media, in its fog of mal- and mis-information, have mentioned everything from one to ten years since the brothers Tsarnaev immigrated. Be that as it may, the thoughts of pro-2A types turn to the question of how this drama will be used — and make no mistake, it will be — by civilian disarmers to bolster their deeply wounded cause . . ." ...

... "There is nothing that can be done to bring back those two women. There is no punishment. There is no apology. They are gone forever. You cannot un-murder or un-rape anyone. You cannot erase the image of those dead daughters from their father’s memory."

"The worst torture humanity could devise will never make that family whole again. In fact, the rest of us will have to pay for the incarceration, legal process, and perhaps eventual execution of this murderer. His actions will cost all of us."

"Justice?"

"There will never be justice. In such cases justice is impossible. The only way justice could have been attained was if one of those women had shot him dead at the time of the attack…because justice only happens in real time." ...

"On Wednesday, this column predicted that the Boston Marathon bombing would be exploited as justification for 'gunpowder control.' As it turns out, that prediction only outpaced reality by a matter of hours, with U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) announcing not one, but two 'gunpowder control' amendments to the not-quite-dead-yet S. 649. S. Amd. 736, the 'Explosive Materials Background Check Act,' and S. Amd. 737, of the same title, appear to be essentially the same, with 737 apparently making some technical refinements to 736. A stand-alone bill is apparently also coming." ...

"In Sid Salter’s column (“Gun violence is more complex than Carrey’s lowbrow video,” April 7), he cited a recent study published by the Center for American Progress, the progressive think tank, that showed Mississippi ranked No. 5 in the nation in prevalence of gun violence. I too saw the study. The ranking was based on a number of measures including overall firearm deaths, 2001-2010; firearm homicides among women, 2001-2010; and firearm deaths among children ages 0-17, 2001-2010." ...

Submitter's Note: Oddly enough, the number 1 region for gun homicides and deaths, gun homicides of women and gun homicides and deaths of children age 0-17 was Washington DC with its insanely strict laws, while one of the lowest regions was Vermont with its Constitutional carry law.

"If I were a non-Christian looking from the outside in, I don't think it would be unreasonable to think that American Christians' two highest priorities right now are keeping the government from taking away our guns and stopping gay people from getting married. And I don't think it would be too far-fetched to assume that Jesus sure must love guns and hate sex. But should these really be our priorities as Christians? And if not, how did they rise to the place of prominence they have?" ...

"Wednesday, on April 17th, the U.S. Senate voted against a bill that would have imposed stronger gun control legislation. It lacked seven votes to pass. President Obama had done much campaigning strongly in favor of the bill. And recent polls had shown that most Americans favored the bill’s increased gun control. It included stronger background checks, strengthening the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, and reducing the number of bullets in magazine clips for automatic[sic] weapons." ...

On Wednesday, a measure that would do exactly that was stopped in the U.S. Senate after gaining the support of only four Republicans."
