Author, attorney and reserve police officer Jeff Kasky was working at his home office when texts started coming over his phone.
It was Valentine’s Day 2018, and his son Cameron wanted to know if his dad knew what was happening at his school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
Kasky and Linda Brundage, executive director of the Michigan Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, led the discussion intended to promote awareness of red flag laws.
Kasky, Brundage and Wittenberg urged audience members to volunteer, donate money, write their legislators and do anything they can to get a red flag law enacted in Michigan |

But the problem then, as is true after mass shootings today, was guns. Whether it’s Columbine or recent mass shootings in Las Vegas or Parkland, Florida, the fundamental issue is that the people behind these tragedies were able to obtain extremely deadly firearms, from handguns to assault rifles to weapons modified with devices like bump stocks. This is what let the shooters carry out such awful atrocities. |

In the court case, “Wrenn v. District of Columbia,” the courts ruled that DC could not deny a concealed handgun permit to a person because of arbitrary reasons. The court struck down the unconstitutional concealed handgun permit law. DC chose not to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court to protect other states with similar regulations.
DC became a “shall issue” district. Anyone who wants a permit can get one now without having to show “good reason.” This freedom is the direct result of the battle Brian fought.
I had a chance to speak with Brian about the court case and what drove him to seek justice. |

Ed Brown Products, Inc. is honored to once again be working with the Cooper family to release the 2019 Jeff Cooper Commemorative 1911, a tribute to the late Colonel Jeff Cooper and all of his contributions to 1911 world.
Over ten years ago Ed Brown introduced the first tribute pistol in honor to the Colonel. The 2019 edition, like the first, pays special attention to the specific details that were his choice on a pistol of this quality. The all blued gun, features a high polish slide with Jeff Cooper's signature inlayed in gold on the right side, and the left side is inlayed “DVC” which stands for the latin phrase, “Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas”, meaning “Accuracy, Power, Speed”. |

Living each day in unyielding support of our Second Amendment right to bear arms — particularly in a media environment that increasingly challenges that position with every click and tweet and headline — takes unblinking fortitude that has galvanized his grit. But that’s not the special power he holds, either.
While Van Horn wears his confidence comfortably, the most powerful weapon in the Hayden resident’s arsenal is one he usually conceals and seldom unholsters: his position on the National Rifle Association’s Board of Directors. |

The Kansas Supreme Court has again overturned the murder conviction of a Topeka man who was serving a life sentence in a 2008 bar shooting.
The justice ruled Friday that James Arthur Qualls III's claims that he killed 30-year-old Joseph Beier in self-defense weren't handled correctly at trial.
Justice Eric Rosen wrote in the unanimous decision that Qualls found himself in a "chaotic, threatening situation" when he fired a dozen rounds. The defense said Qualls had been hit twice and believed Beier was reaching for a weapon, although none was found on Beier. |

On Thursday, two days before the 20th anniversary of the mass shooting at Columbine High School, former Representative Gabrielle Giffords went to Minnesota to announce the creation of a gun safety advocacy group.
The group’s agenda is predictable: It will lobby for universal background checks and an extreme risk protection law, which would allow the temporary confiscation of guns from people believed to pose an imminent threat to themselves or others.

“Now is the time for action. Now is not the time for passivity.”
That’s the advice Justin Danhof, Esq., the National Center’s general counsel and director of its Free Enterprise Project (FEP), has for conservatives when it comes to dealing with businesses embracing liberal policies. In an interview with Cam Edwards on NRATV’s “Cam & Co,” Justin discussed the threat to Second Amendment gun rights that is posed by activism targeting the financial services industry. |

“I don't think civilians should have access to an assault-type rifle because I think it has the potential for destructive violence on a mass of people who are innocent,” he said.
Moore, who owns multiple firearms and is an avid hunter, wrote about his concerns in an op-ed for NBC News after the Parkland, Florida school massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.
But Moore’s own brother – Dr. John Moore, a Harvard-educated trauma surgeon, now retired – disagrees.
“I have an AR-15 and I enjoy it,” John Moore says. |

It seems that the currently unidentified but documented gang member pulled a gun. But Mark Miller, who has a New Jersey Concealed Carry Permit, pulled his own gun.
Unfortunately, Miller was shot three times in the abdomen but he also shot the assailant twice. They were both found dead at the scene. |

Sisterhood.
That's the word I kept hearing repeated as women gathered in Texas hill country last week for A Girl & A Gun‘s sold out national conference.
And, after spending a few days among the ladies, it wasn't hard to see why. |
