House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is taking enough heat to melt the ice cream stash she recently revealed in what the New York Times described as her “high-end appliances” during a kitchen-based interview from her home in San Francisco, where she is self-isolating during the coronavirus pandemic panic.
The ice cream appears to be at issue, as Fox News is reporting that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is slamming the Speaker for allegedly slowing down replenishment of the Small Business Administration’s fund for small business loans to establishments closed because of the COVID-19 closures. Pelosi recently appeared on late night television with comedian James Corden, showing off a cache of ice cream.

The Army Corps of Engineers, which manages more than 400 waterways in the U.S. and many of the recreational opportunities found there—camping, fishing, boating, hiking and more—is accepting written comments on a proposal to modernize its firearm policy and better recognize the right to self-defense. “This proposed revision would align the Corps regulation with the regulations of the other Federal land management agencies by removing the need for an individual to obtain written permission before possessing a weapon on Corps projects,” the announcement explains.

Colorado is a beautiful state. Between the rolling hills and snow-covered mountains stretching into the clouds, the picturesque landscape has been a go-to skiing destination for decades. And while the state has been red or purple for nearly as long, the last election proved that its citizens are prepared to vote Democrat if only as a referendum against President Trump.

There’s no shortage of used Springfield 944 Series A single-shot shotguns on the market. In fact, it earned top honors in that category on GunBroker.com last year. Ironically, it’s easier to find specimens of the gun in pristine condition than locate detailed information on the firearm. Here’s what we know for sure. First, the name is somewhat confusing. It is not and never was a Springfield Armory product. Stevens Arms Company—a brand acquired by Savage Arms in 1920—began producing firearms under the label Springfield (one word) in the late 1930s. In 1947, the budget-friendly line disappeared, though. |

What would normally be broad constitutional protections for freedoms of assembly, religion — even buying guns — may be curtailed when they endanger others during the coronavirus pandemic, California’s top law enforcement officer said in an interview. The state has been sued over all three during its shutdown as government officials pick winners and losers in deciding which businesses and activities can operate and which can’t. |

Widespread fishing and hunting closures, which have raised the ire of many, may become more targeted, according to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Kelly Susewind. During a 30-minute livestreamed discussion conducted as part of the Spokesman-Review’s Northwest Passages online forums, Susewind explained why the state’s wildlife management agency elected to suspend spring fishing and hunting seasons. |

When the alarm went off, I had already been awake for 15 minutes. I easily popped out of my bed in the back of my 4Runner and started layering up. I was off hiking with my pack and shotgun slung on my shoulder in a matter of minutes. When the sun broke the horizon, I was a half-mile from my camp without another person in sight. Few turkeys were sounding off, preferring the silent treatment once they left the roost.

A suspect who repeatedly shot a man during a confrontation in the middle of the street was released from custody without being charged, despite the fact that the entire shooting was caught on video (video below). “It’s certainly enough to charge the guy,” outraged St. Louis Police Officers Association (POA) President Jeff Roorda told KMOV. “No one can watch that video and think that guy has to be on the street.” |

The two brands of pencils I know off the top of my head are Ticonderoga and Dixon. I also know that fountain pen nibs are polished with crushed walnut shells. Word processing programs? I know the basics for producing a clean, professional-looking manuscript, but the more esoteric functions? Forget it. |
