"The comments to me are astounding. First was the comment by one citizen that he had voted for Bush in 2000 but would never vote for him again if he supported the AWB because it is a clear violation of the Constitution. Wow, now this must be really perplexing to the President. The majority of this nation several weeks ago told him to forget the Constitution, support UN resolutions, and wage war on Iraq. They called anyone who disagreed and wanted a declaration of war to be 'friends of Saddam' and traitors to the nation. So what if there is Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution that forbids war without a FORMAL declaration by congress, the masses exclaimed. Didn't the congress sign some resolution that didn't even have the word war in its text? Now some idiots are saying they will not vote for Bush because he refuses to honor the Constitution! Must really keep Dubya up at night trying to figure us out." |
