... "Still, it’s fair to ask why a second lawsuit is needed ..."
"That’s because he’s already been through the legal process in Razzano vs. County of Nassau ('Razzano I'). Rep. Carolyn McCarthy’s office sicced the cops on him after an animated meeting over immigration issues, and they confiscated his legally registered weapons--nine rifles, 15 handguns, and his fiancée’s handgun. They revoked his pistol license three weeks later over his 'suitability.' In other words, an American citizen, with no criminal charges against him, no convictions, no mental health diagnoses, no adjudication of any kind, was stripped of his supposedly Second Amendment-guaranteed rights essentially because he exercised those promised in the First." ... |

"If you’re a New Jersey resident who wants to practice the 'bear' part of the 'keep and bear arms' protected from government infringement by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, good luck. To obtain a concealed carry permit – itself an infringement on Americans’ gun rights – New Jersey citizens must show 'justifiable need.' They have to convince the State of New Jersey that there’s a specific and credible threat against their person. A simple desire to protect your life, loved ones and your community from potential harm won’t cut it. And so some eight million Garden State residents are denied their natural, civil and Constitutional right to bear arms. On Friday . . ." ... |

... "My son was lucky. He was legally allowed to handle firearms in Virginia. We took him to the range. He shot a variety of firearms - rifles, pistols, machine guns and shot guns. He has had his own eye and hearing protection since he was in elementary school, and he received his first Mossberg Plinkster when he was approximately 9."
"Children in Iowa aren't so lucky."
"A recent press report tells the tale of little Natalie Gibson, who was asked to leave a Polk City shooting range last week, because legally - at 8 years old - she was not old enough to practice with the pistol she had been shooting for the past three years.""The range's gunsmith told them a state law "no one knew about" has surfaced ..." ... |

"It seems like every silencer manufacturer has their own silencer mount/flash hider thing. AAC has their 51-tooth adapter, Gemtech has their lug-based mount and Surefire has their odd smooth muzzle brake. It’s a necessity in a world where silencers are expensive and the regulatory rigmarole surrounding them is so tedious as to make babies cry, where people generally buy one silencer and use it on all of their guns. But that’s not the world that Kevin Brittingham, founder of AAC and new head of SIG’s R&D envisions . . ." ... |

"When the subject is body armor, you can’t avoid the topic of Kevlar. This synthetic fiber has completely changed the way of development of body armor, once it appeared on the market. Kevlar is incredibly lightweight, while five times stronger and harder than steel. It doesn’t corrode or rust, while effectively absorbing vibration. Kevlar is expensive, though, due to the work with concentrated sulfuric acid that’s used in its production. Only a few online websites such as www.safeguardclothing.com offer soft Kevlar panels in their armor to the public nowadays . . ." ... |

"Ethan Lessard was the silencer guru at Advanced Armament, but he quit around the same time that Kevin Brittingham was fired. For the last two years he’s been working for SIG SAUER’s R&D department, developing awesome stuff like the MCX and their suppressors. And as Ethan says, 'I’m done with inch-and-a-half silencers' . . ."
"With silencers, it’s all about the gas volume. The point is to capture and cool down the expanding gasses ... before they exit the can, and to be able to do that effectively you need a container with the appropriate volume. Slim silencers work, but they heat up quickly and become ineffecive. By making a larger diameter silencer, you can have a shorter overall length and still get superior performance." ... |

"Mouse guns and snubbies practically beg for a laser. With sight radiuses (radii?) approximately the length of the average 14-year-old’s attention span, hitting anything at much more than bad breath distances can be, well, hit or miss. That doesn’t mean that a good laser won’t benefit a larger pistol, though. So now, as you knew they would, Crimson Trace is out with one of their best-in-class Laserguards for the larger-than-mouse gun GLOCK 42. Press release after the jump . . ." ... |

"Now that Mayor Bloomberg has dumped $50m into his new NRA-fighting gun control group, ye olde Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence is living in the shadow of Everytown. No matter. All for one, and one gun for no one. Or something like that. Anyway, I’m not entirely against the theme of this campaign. If you’re worried about unsecured firearms at your kids’ friends home, ask about unsecured firearms. First amendment and all that. HOWEVER, here’s the real trick to keeping your kids safe around someone else’s firearms: teach them what to do when they encounter a gun. My take: muzzle control is everything. Obviously . . ." ... |

The mags feature a 25 round capacity and a window, and are designed for ammunition that falls within SAAMI specs for overall length. "The robber demanded money and the clerk started handing bills from the register. The robber then demanded the clerk open the safe and the clerk told him that the store doesn't have one."
"Convinced there was no safe, the robber decided he needed some smokes. Instructing the clerk to get down on his knees, the robber reached up for some smokes."

"Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal will sign a controversial gun bill Wednesday in Ellijay at a ceremony and luncheon that’s expected to attract many supporters and double as a Second Amendment rally."
"The so-called 'guns everywhere' bill will allow firearms in many churches, bars and government buildings. The bill will also bar sheriffs from asking someone with a gun if he or she has a license. Under the new bill, schools would have the option of deciding if teachers or administrators should be armed. The state will also have to report within 10 days Georgians’ involuntary commitments to hospitals." ... |

"In an upcoming Second Amendment symposium hosted by the Tennessee Law Review, law professor and Second Amendment scholar David Kopel will unveil his article entitled 'The First Amendment Guide to the Second Amendment,' an in-depth look at how courts have used legal precedent related to the First Amendment to help render decisions on the Second."
"One of the reasons courts do this, Kopel observes ... discussing the article, is because both Amendments are similar in that they 'safeguard natural, pre-exiting human rights,' i.e. the right to free expression and the right to self-defense."
"In one part of the article, Kopel highlights the common 'interpretive principles' that the two amendments share, which include:" ... |

The valet had noticed the gun when it was in the car and told the police, who arrested Guy and charged him with unlawful weapon possession – a felony in NJ."

"To the editor: I see, on your Sunday editorial page, there is a proposal to 'fix' that pesky Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights."
"Here’s my 50 cents on the nasty Third Amendment. You see, I was in the U.S. Army for many years. I can tell you how lousy the quarters were at times while citizens lived in fine houses. Now, we have a new para-military force (Homeland Security) rising. They will need adequate quarters. Since they are not soldiers per se, I think we should 'fix' the Third Amendment to allow Homeland Security to quarter themselves among the people they are protecting." ... |
