CO: Douglas County Sheriff: 'Red Flag Bill' could have Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock calls himself "a Second Amendment Guy." "I think everyone should have guns. If you want them you can have them," said Spurlock. "Except for two groups of people. If you're a criminal out committing crimes, I don't think you should have guns. But also if you're in a mental health crisis, we should be able to both protect your from yourself and the community." |

A group of religious leaders is condemning a Missouri bill to permit people to carry concealed firearms in church without permission from clergy, with St. Louis’ Catholic archbishop threatening to sue if the bill is signed into law. The bill would “broaden Second Amendment rights at the expense of the First Amendment right of religious liberty,” said Archbishop Robert J. Carlson. |

I have long believed, and often said, that one of America’s greatest threats is national news media that fail to tell the truth. When members of the news media ignore truth and, instead, distort it to deceive Americans to fit their own agenda, the democratic principles upon which our nation was founded are threatened. |

Gun control activists are fighting to end Del Mar gun shows by claiming such shows are not “healthy” for the area’s community. Individuals rallying beneath the gun control hashtag “never again” and auspices of NeverAgainCA are specifically targeting the Crossroads of the West Gun Show. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that a push to end the gun show repeatedly comes after a high profile public attack. Such a push occurred after the December 14, 2012, Sandy Hook Elementary School attack and most recently after the February 14, 2018, attack on Mary Douglas Stoneman High School. |

Absolutely, say the anti-gun lefties. They would rather leave kids defenseless from kindergarten through high school than trust willing teachers to protect them with concealed-carry weapons. Teachers idolized as brilliant, selfless saints in the classroom are apparently too incompetent, irresponsible, or just plain stupid to be trained to capably operate a firearm. |

Tuesday night in Edmonds, myself, Dave Ross, Jason Rantz and King County Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht will discuss and debate in what we have billed as a discussion about “guns and our children.” There is much to discuss: Why government employees ignore existing laws, which enable murderers like the Parkland killer, the Virginia Tech murderer, and many more? Why do gun control advocates and their partners in the mainstream media ignore the fact that it is gang violence — which we could attack without a Second Amendment issue — that is responsible for most murders with guns? |

Foster parents in Arizona have to comply with a lot of rules in their homes, from rules that govern how tall their pool fence has to be, to rules that require them to lock up their cleaning supplies. But should they also have to comply with rules that regulate how they keep guns in their homes? Mary Jo Pitzl with the Arizona Republic has spent months digging into our state’s child welfare system and one issue that’s come up recently is the debate over guns in foster homes.

Officer Willie Fortner, 25, of the 5th Precinct was arraigned Monday on two counts of felonious assault, two counts of felony firearm, and domestic violence after the alleged incident outside a bar at Fort Street and Beaubien near Greektown.
Prosecutors say Fortner assaulted his girlfriend following an argument inside the bar, and when two Good Samaritans tried to intervene, he allegedly retrieved his gun from the trunk of his car and pointed it at the two men.

To become competent with your defensive handgun, you must practice. But, practice consumes money and time. Training courses are a way to maximize your time and money because they’re controlled and conducted under the watchful eye of a capable instructor. This is why Gunsite Academy has been in business more than 40 years. However, few of us have a week or $1,500-plus lying around to take advantage of what such a school offers. There is an affordable option, however, one that can fill the gap until vacation and greenbacks become available. You can drastically improve your defensive-handgun skills by developing a budget practice plan, and most importantly, by sticking to it.

Effingham County, Illinois' declaration of itself as a "sanctuary" for gun owners has received national attention and influenced other Illinois counties to consider similar measures. Appearing on "Fox and Friends First” early last Thursday morning, Effingham County State’s Attorney Bryan Kibler and county board member David Campbell talked about the resolution with anchor Heather Childers. “We’ve been seeing an increasing number of House and Senate bills coming through attacking our Second Amendment,” Campbell said during the segment. “I go to a lot of the NRA banquets in my hometown and talk to a lot of my constituents and decided to take a stand.” |
