PA: Arrested Detective Allegedly Threatened to Shoot Woman's Son Who Found Him Naked in Her Bedroom

A Philadelphia police detective was arrested this week months after an incident in which he allegedly told a 23-year-old man he would shoot him while he had his gun drawn in the bedroom of the man's mother.
Detective Robert Redanauer, 51, was arrested on Tuesday on four charges stemming from the December 27, 2020, incident, according to court records. A 30-year veteran of the force, Redanauer was suspended for 30 days, and the department intends to dismiss him at the end of his suspension.
He's the 10th Philadelphia police officer to be arrested this year, according to KYW-TV, including eight who were on the force at the time of their arrest. |

A new bill in Congress would protect Second Amendment rights for cannabis consumers by exempting people in legalized states from a federal restriction that bars any “unlawful user” of a controlled substance from owning a firearm.
H.R. 2830, the Gun Rights and Marijuana Act, filed on Thursday by Rep. Don Young (R-AK) and two GOP cosponsors, adds a short provision to existing federal law specifying that “the term ‘unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance’ shall not include a person by reason of unlawful use or addiction to marijuana.” |

Battle Creek police responded to a stabbing incident early this morning that resulted in the death of Christopher Dykstra, 43, Prosecutor Dan Gilbert confirms.
We’re told it happened in the area of Main Street and Newark Avenue.
Gilbert says an 18-year-old man was involved and will not be charged, as the stabbing has been determined to have been an act of self-defense. |

No charges will be filed following the shooting death of a man in New Albany last weekend.
Police and prosecutors said they believe the person that killed 42-year-old John Anthony Robertson was acting in self-defense.
Floyd County Prosecutor Chris Lane said Friday the victim in the case is actually the woman who pulled the trigger, saying she acted in defense of herself and her family. |

Quick! If I say “John M. Browning,” what comes to mind? Likely, the Model 1911, Browning Hi-Power, “Ma Deuce” or the BAR—all of them originally military weapons. The Colt and FN .25, 1903 and 1908 pistols, which were made for civilians first, might come to mind as well.
Ultimately, Browning contributed over 125 firearm patents and designs over his lifetime. Many of his works were designed for the sporting arena and civilian defensive use. Nathan Gorenstein’s new book, The Guns of John Moses Browning (out May 25), details Browning’s involvement in trap shooting. This was when the pigeons in the trap were not clay, but live, and thus less predictable than something thrown by a machine. |

House Bill 3094 allows citizens who hold a concealed weapons permit, to carry a handgun in the manner they choose. Currently, South Carolina is one of just five states that does not explicitly allow open carry, among them Illinois, New York, and California. |

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Friday vetoed legislation that would prohibit local police from enforcing federal gun laws, saying the measure would jeopardize law enforcement and the public.
The Republican governor rejected the measure sent him by the majority-GOP Legislature that would have imposed criminal fines on state and local officers for assisting with enforcing federal firearms restrictions that the bill's backers say infringe on the Second Amendment.
The Legislature could still enact the bill by overriding Hutchinson's veto through a simple majority vote. |

Yesterday, the General Assembly recessed from its 2021 legislative session. During this session, the House passed House Bill 1369, to ensure that law-abiding adults can exercise their right to self-defense without first having to obtain government permission. Unfortunately, the Senate did not even give this critical bill a committee hearing, resulting in it failing to pass this session.
As a small victory for law-abiding citizens, Senate Bill 64, to make schools less safe by imposing onerous, one-size-fits-all requirements on school security, did not progress in the legislative process. |

In 2016, a law professor made one of the dumbest statements ever made on the Interwebs. Glenn Reynolds, took to Twitter under his handle @Instapundit and advocated vehicular manslaughter in response to protests mildly inconveniencing someone’s commute. Well, his defenders argued that it wasn’t about convenience but about protecting motorists from violent protesters. And by “violent” they meant “Black people” because… that’s the Instapundit audience. As an institution deeply committed to the rule of law, Tennessee Law responded by doing absolutely nothing. As primal forces of the universe, basic human decency can’t hold a candle to tenure. |

The Boulder, Colorado grocery store killing made it clear to many, who may have been on the fence with the idea of gun ownership for the purpose of self-defense, that the responsibility for the safety of American citizens lies in the hands of the American citizens. Legislators will never be able to stop the hatred that harbors itself away in the hearts of killers. Frankly, they don’t seem to want to stop it. They appear to be more focused on eliminating the rights of law-abiding Americans and the ability of good people to defend themselves by implementing unconstitutional and dangerous gun laws. At what point will all American citizens realize, that it is up to them to protect and defend themselves and their families? |

What is it going to take for U.S. senators who are under the influence of the National Rifle Association to say enough is enough?
The senators, mostly from the GOP, complain that every time there is a mass shooting, we have a meeting to discuss what should be done and nothing happens. But nothing happens because those senators block whatever type of gun control is considered.
And why? Because the NRA makes massive campaign money available to the senators. It’s about time those senators get a backbone and stand up for what is right, get gun control passed and tell the NRA that something has to be done about the ease of getting semiautomatic weapons. |

On April 27th, the House Judiciary Committee is hearing Senate Bill 6, to ban magazines over an arbitrary capacity limit. The following week, the committee will hear Senate Bill 3, to impose a Maryland-style “handgun qualified purchase card” and a handgun transfer registry. Please contact committee members and ask them to OPPOSE SB 6 and SB 3.
Senate Bill 6, the so-called “Delaware Large Capacity Magazine Prohibition Act,” bans possessing magazines with a capacity greater than seventeen rounds of ammunition. Such arbitrary limits are not grounded in public safety and, instead, restrict law-abiding citizens who use these magazines for various purposes, such as self-defense and competition. |
