Officials with Connecticut gun manufacturer Sturm, Ruger and Company said that a judge has dismissed all claims in a Washington municipal lawsuit against the company and other members of the firearms industry.
The Fairfield-based firearms company said that the court let stand claims based upon Washington's "strict liability" act against certain manufacturers of machine guns, used in crimes against city residents.
According to the company, none of the pleadings in the Washington case identify a Sturm Ruger firearm as having been used in any of the criminal shootings. |

"Last week in this space I offered the idea that if we want to get serious about protecting the rights of crime victims in this country, we need to pass a Crime Victims Constitutional Amendment." ...
"...Interesting that so many liberal Democrats say they are offended at the notion of a constitutional amendment to protect the rights of the five million Americans who are annually victimized by criminals, many of whom are armed criminals, but at the same time they do not hesitate to try to take firearms out of the hands of law-abiding Americans. They are willing to distort the Constitution so Americans will be unable to protect themselves, and they oppose amending the Constitution to give the unarmed victims of violent criminals the right to be heard in court." |

Fourth story on the page
"In the never-ending battle to destroy our constitution, more "big lie" propaganda is being dumped on our elected officials. The rhetoric given forth by the Violence Policy Center (VPC) so easily deceived the legislators of California, resulting in the banning of fifty caliber rifles because they are powerful and their bullets punch holes when they strike. Even single shot .50 cal rifles were banned. It's hard to believe we live in such a dark time that someone has actually banned a single shot rifle. But as you will see, this is the cleverest of all gun bans, and the end goal is civilian disarmament, the confiscation of your tools of liberty, your rifles." |

"The Oregonian's position on upcoming federal legislation to grant legal immunity to the firearms industry is inaccurate to the point I say, 'Shame on you, Mr. Editor' ('Don't bulletproof the gun industry,' April 13). The blatant, lightning-rod terminology will surely get all those Blue Meanies in Multnomah County riled up."
"You say that 'tens of thousands of people die annually from gunshot wounds.' But knee-jerk reactions to that fact are an example of simplistic thinking. They may prove politically expedient, resulting in more laws in the short term, but they will cause greater carnage later. Fact: In Great Britain and Australia, violent crime has risen dramatically since their gun bans went into effect, especially crimes against the elderly -- crimes like home invasion, aggravated assault and murder." |

A boy who brought a toy gun to school last week was sent home for three says as a punishment. Beaumont Independent School District spokesperson, Jolene Ortego, told Hometown News on Monday the boy was found with a non-working plastic toy gun in his backpack last Thursday at French Elementary School.
The Beaumont Police Department was asked to dispatch an officer to the school after administrators learned of the discovery—at the time, police didn’t know the gun was a toy.
Ortego tells us even though the gun was a toy, the district cannot take any chances on the boy’s punishment.
The boy will return to school Tuesday.

WYTV in Youngstown is reporting that another crime as occurred at a Sparkle Supermarket on the cities West side on Friday April 22. A known "no-guns zone", the West Side Sparkle prominently displays a no concealed weapons sign. This did not stop the criminal from entering the business and committing a strong armed robbery at gun point.
Some may remember the other "gun free" Sparkle, also in Youngstown (Cornersburg), where the worker was assaulted while making a night deposit.
It is also worth noting that WYTV is also a criminal protection zone as well and did not report in either story that those businesses did not allow shoppers or workers their civil rights to protect themselves.
