A person taking part in a police training program in Taylor suffered a gunshot wound and was hospitalized, Michigan State Police said.
The shooting happened Sunday afternoon during the exercise at a Taylor city park for the city's volunteer auxiliary police program.
The civilian was a "role player" in a training scenario when an auxiliary officer in the training fired a shot from his service revolver, hitting the person in the abdomen, state police said. The person was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
State police investigators were reviewing the shooting at the request of Taylor police. |

Evergreen State Second Amendment activists had plenty of reason to celebrate the unanimous win at the state Supreme Court against an illegal gun control ordinance adopted four years ago by the City of Edmonds, but now there is an additional reason for gun owners to grin.
This ruling was a direct defeat for anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, which had, by its own acknowledgement, “agreed to represent the City on a pro bono basis, along with the Summit Law Group.” Summit is a Seattle-based law firm. |

Designed from the ground up for concealed carry, the new 30 Super Carry cartridge caught a lot of attention after its recent introduction. It seems only fitting that Federal added a load for this cartridge in its highly regarded HST line of defensive ammo.
The HST is carried by many law enforcement agencies and citizens for self-defense. The capabilities of the HST bullet have been proven in other calibers and has been shown to be most reliable and effective bullet designs available today, which makes perfect sense that Federal would add the bullet to the HST line.

English poet William Cowper is credited with the phrase “Variety is the spice of life, that gives it all its flavor.” That is certainly the case for firearm enthusiasts, who purchase new guns for a wide range of reasons, including hunting, competition, plinking, self-defense and collecting. American Rifleman endeavors to reflect those and other pursuits every month, although, sometimes, that may not seem to be the case. In fact, one reader recently had this to say: “Maybe it’s time for the NRA to rename ‘American Rifleman’ to something like ‘Plastic 9mm Monthly’.”

Follow Through on All Repetitions: A Skill to Develop in Training

Most of us are guilty of the following: We draw our gun in dry practice or at the range, we foul the draw and perhaps don’t get a good grip, so we re-set and start over. This same principle applies to any other number of shooting tasks. This is a potentially detrimental practice. When we train, we must develop follow-through in our actions. The follow-through I refer to here is not “follow through” as it applies to shooting, in which we follow up every shot with the preparation of the next sight picture to make the next shot. Rather, I am referring to the practice of conditioning ourselves to follow through with every repetition, even a bad one, so that we condition ourselves to do so if things go bad.

Yesterday, the Washington Supreme Court gave law-abiding Washington gun owners something to celebrate. In a unanimous opinion, the Court ruled that the City of Edmonds’ storage ordinances violated the state’s preemption law. These ordinances required firearms to be locked at all times within the home, and imposed liability on gun owners if their firearms were ever accessed by a prohibited person.

Kimber introduced its pocketable 1911-style .380 ACP Micro in 2013 and then upgunned the design in 2016 to chamber the far more capable 9 mm Luger, and the manufacturer has added nearly two dozen variants to the Micro 9 series since that time. New for 2022 are four more options, including the ESV Two Tone (MC)(TP), a model that ships from Kimber with a mini compensator installed to its 5/8x24 TPI threaded muzzle, significantly reducing the lightweight subcompact pistol’s felt recoil and muzzle rise.

The bill is an incremental step toward restoring Second Amendment rights to young adults. The bill requires the department of safety to issue an enhanced handgun carry permit to people who are at least 18 years of age, and meet the other requirements which apply to people 21 and older. Previously, the minimum age was 21.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (42B.C) |
