Many years ago, I’d been hunting for a few years and found myself in a women’s-only duck camp when the subject turned to shotguns. One women proudly announced, “I don’t clean guns; that’s my husband’s job. I’m a princess. I just shoot them!” and I rolled my eyes in distain. Princess, ugh. But then I realized: That was me. I always play the “I’m tired and you’re better at this anyway” card to get my husband to clean guns after we go shooting. I couldn’t even take the bolt out of my own rifle, much less clean a handgun or disassemble a shotgun.

Iowa lawmakers are entering the final push to get key bills sent to Gov. Kim Reynolds’ desk before packing up and leaving Des Moines. Friday marks the legislature’s 110th day, traditionally lawmakers’ goal for ending the session for the year. There is no legal requirement to end the session on that date, but lawmakers’ allowances for daily expenses will run out on Friday.

We need to call out every lie we see even if that means calling “respected elected officials” liars. Congressman Jamaal Brown, you lie. Representative Jimmy Gomez, you lie. You lie because you say you want to save lives, yet you pretend that more gun-control laws will actually protect our kids.

That is a lie and I’ll prove it right now.

The Washington State-based Second Amendment Foundation was first out of the gate to file a federal lawsuit Tuesday challenging a new gun ban law signed by Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee while surrounded by a crowd of gun prohibition advocates.

The ink hardly had time to dry on House Bill 1240, before the SAF complaint was filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The case is known as Hartford v. Ferguson.

On a nearly straight-line party vote, Knox County commissioners rejected a resolution supporting a "red flag" gun reform law backed by Gov. Bill Lee. The governor has asked GOP lawmakers to pass the safety measure, which is supported by an overwhelming majority of Americans and can help stop mass shootings like the one that killed three 9-year-olds and three adults in Nashville.

Growing up in Florida, my twin sister and I never knew there were guns kept in our home. My father’s unloaded firearms — a .22 pistol and a 20-gauge shotgun — were stored in a locked cabinet in the garage behind an array of boxes, bikes, and golf clubs. He worked across the country in California, and he kept the key with him at all times.

A relatively unknown brand, with a whole new platform, at an incredibly enticing price point – that’s GForce Arms with the LVR410. Turkey is building a reputation as one of the largest shotgun exporters in the world, and GForce is leading the way for Turkish-built lever-action shotguns. Before you pull the trigger – literally and metaphorically – there’s more you’ll need to know.

We all survived the recent round of ammo shortages and higher prices over the past few years. Those of us who bought in bulk not only locked in prices when they were reasonable, but we were able to keep shooting and training to keep our skills up – while many shooters had no ammunition to spare.

The 6.8 caliber has had difficulty achieving wide-spread acceptance by the 2A community in the United States. We love our 223 Remington, 300 Blackout, and 308 Winchester, shying away from anything metric not named 9mm.

In the land of the rimfire rifle cartridge, the 22 long rifle with its 40-grain bullet remains the most popular round for plinking and light pest control. However, sometimes a .22LR simply isn’t powerful enough to take on larger varmints, like coyotes, and lacks the muzzle velocity to take down prairie dogs at longer ranges.
