The law would require the approval of the district, principal and local law enforcement agency for any teacher who seeks to be armed, and Rysewyk didn't slam the door on the idea. He said if the bill becomes law, KCS will check with the county law office for guidance.
"Talking about security and school safety is not new to us," Rysewyk said. "An armed officer who's highly trained in every one of our buildings is extremely important and that's the safest thing we can do for families and for students. ... There's not a need for us to to use the provisions in the new legislation."

The Colt King Cobra is one of the more recent additions to the highly popular lineup of Colt Double Action revolvers. Like all of the other snakes on the plane, the Colt King Cobra features high-quality construction, impeccable mechanical reliability, and all of the sleek lines of the Python, just without the vent rib. While revolvers may not be my most frequently used handguns, I still have a lot of fun shooting them at the range because they’re just cool and very fun to reload and operate. XS Sights has been constantly adding new types of sights and sighting accessories for virtually every platform out there, including Colt’s entire line of revolvers. |

“In an industry like ours, we tend to be more technical and use technical or military-type terms to describe the firearms,” Bryan Clark, co-owner of Bristlecone Shooting, Training and Retail Center, said.
Clark helped show examples of guns that would be banned based on the words printed in the definitions part of the bill banning the sale of assault weapons.
“The definitions, in the way they're stated, bring in an entire family of firearms that most people would not consider to be an ‘assault weapon,’” Clark said. |

In fact, the earlier interventions actually suggest there are likely already four votes against the government. The first time the Court agreed to issue an administrative stay on the Fifth Circuit’s ruling, it noted that four justices wouldn’t have issued that stay. That probably tells us a lot more about where those justices stand than the five who voted for the procedural move.
It is much more likely a justice would vote for the stay but side with plaintiffs on the merits than the other way around. |

Last fall, Washington’s attorney general sued Gator’s Custom Guns, a dealer in Cowlitz County, for what it calls “egregious” violations of the law. The shop allegedly continued to sell high-capacity magazines more than a year after the ban went into effect.
But the gun dealer is pushing back, and says the law is unconstitutional. Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Gary Bashor agreed with the firearms dealer earlier this month, and struck down the law. Judge Bashor wrote in his opinion that the law violated both the federal and Washington constitutions. |

Have you ever been on a shooting range with over 200 pro-Second Amendment women? I have, and yes – it was as awesome as it sounds.
Last month, I was fortunate enough to attend the first National Women's Range Day put on by Gun Owners of America and Empowered 2A. It was much more than a day of shooting, so I'm sharing my experience and what I learned. |

Legalizing recreational marijuana in Pennsylvania has held legislative attention in recent years, but some problems still pester users in the medical marijuana program.
Some clarity may soon come for the legal tensions between Second Amendment rights and state-approved marijuana use.
Sen. Dan Laughlin, R-Erie, is proposingSenate Bill 1146 to clarify that Pennsylvania’s Uniform Firearm Act does not consider a medical marijuana cardholder as an unlawful user. Current law does not exempt medical users, which puts them in potential legal jeopardy. |

The Second Amendment originally banned the federal government from regulating guns, and states could regulate almost as much as they desired. That federal ban has modified over the years.
The Supreme Court has ruled that pursuant to the Second and 14th amendments, gun possession and ownership are individual rights afforded to citizens. That is not to say that it is an absolute right, and some limitations have been upheld by the judicial branch.
For example, a convicted felon, whether from state or federal court, cannot lawfully possess arms. In many states, a person who is addicted to substances or is not mentally competent cannot possess weapons or arms. |

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to decide the legality of a federal regulation aimed at reining in homemade "ghost guns" as President Joe Biden's administration combats the increasing use of these largely untraceable weapons in crimes nationwide.
The justices took up the administration's appeal of a lower court's decision finding that the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) exceeded its authority in issuing the 2022 rule targeting parts and kits for ghost guns, which can be assembled at home in minutes. |

A 19-year-old Wichita man will not face charges in the fatal shooting of another man earlier this month, Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett said. Damarqua Keyleon Kendell Edwards was arrested on April 9 on suspicion of intentional and premeditated first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Dontis Carter, Wichita police said. The DA’s office reviewed evidence from the case on April 11 and determined that Edwards acted in self-defense. Charges will not be filed in the shooting, Bennett said.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, both incidents involved homeowners who successfully used firearms to prevent criminal activities. Sgt. Andrew Valle noted a rise in such defensive uses of firearms. “It does seem there is a spike in these types of activities,” Valle commented while investigating one of the shootings.

Pennsylvania young adults aged 18, 19 and 20 years old can now apply for a concealed carry license in the Keystone State.
On Wednesday, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania ruled that the state law forbidding adults under 21 from applying for a carry permit is unconstitutional, as is the law banning adults that age from open carrying during an emergency.
The case, Lara v. Evanchick, was filed by the Second Amendment Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition and three private citizens. |

Ryan Watson, along with others like Bryan Hagerich and Michael Grim, finds himself ensnared in an unforgiving judicial system, despite what appears to be an honest mistake. Their stories are heart-wrenching. Watson, for instance, envisioned a dream vacation turning into a nightmare where he might miss life-defining moments like his son’s graduation over a few rounds of common ammunition that were never intended to be included and can cause no harm.
The gravity of these cases is underscored by a shift in local legal policy. Where once tourists could resolve similar misdemeanors with a fine, a court order issued in February now mandates severe prison time for such infractions. |

There is growing concern about a shocking investigation that revealed YouTube's algorithm is pushing ghost gun content to those most at risk of making the weapons, including children playing video games.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg shared details of the investigation and said the videos in question are showing viewers how to make the untraceable ghost guns.
In several ongoing cases, teens and young adults being investigated for ghost gun possession and manufacturing told prosecutors they learned to build ghost guns on YouTube in less than an hour. |
