"McVeigh, 33, said in the seven-page handwritten note that he considered the assassinations, and later the bombing, after waiting for the American justice system to 'correct the abuse of power' by the federal government in incidents like the raid on Waco."

He also said he considered tagging "federal Judge Walter Smith, who presided over the Waco trial, and Lon Horiuchi, an FBI agent involved in a shootout at Ruby Ridge, Idaho."

"Saying the settlement from the Columbine massacre was too small, a former Colorado judge called for a fundraising campaign to help compensate the victims of the high-school shooting and their families."

~~Now they want people to donate too? I can't believe these people! What makes their tragedy any more worthy a cause than the millions of other tragedies that occur daily?

Letter Exerpt: "Instead of suing gun manufacturers, I am of the opinion it is our lawmakers who need to be sued. It was you who created the laws that kept my grandchildren from being able to defend themselves with any weapon greater than their bare hands. All of my son's children had been trained in the use of firearms but were unable to get to their Dad's weapon because of California State Law." --Mary Carpenter

A lawsuit has been filed against 25 entertainment companies by the families of several victims of the Columbine High School shooting massacre. The lawsuit accuses the entertainment companies of creating violent video games and sex-oriented websites. The lawsuit states that the products created by the companies influenced the two teenage gunmen who opened fire on the Littleton, Colo., high school.

~~It sounds more and more like these people just want to get rich off their dead children.

~~Check out the article for a full outline of how your tax money will be spent to "reduce gun crime".

Convicted felons who want to own guns would have to go back to the courtrooms where they were convicted to ask for a judge's permission, if a proposal being pushed by Attorney General Jim Ryan becomes law. Also, for the first time, a person's signature would appear on gun identification cards. The cards are required to own a gun in Illinois. The new law would not have had an impact on the shooters in Elgin and Melrose Park because the guns they used were possessed illegally.

An Oak Brook optometrist filed a $55 million lawsuit against Lufthansa Airlines, charging the airliner got him wrongfully convicted in Athens of illegal gun smuggling. On a trip to Greece last April, he packed in his luggage a set of antique gold handguns, collectibles he wanted to show friends. Before leaving, he submitted all the proper forms at the O'Hare International Airport check-in desk, according to the lawsuit. Lufthansa officials called the police and had him arrested, saying they knew nothing of the weapons, and refused to call the Chicago office for verification.

Organizers of the May 5 Million Mom March at the State Capitol grounds are hoping for the greatest political turnout in the state's history to bolster their "fight against gun violence". But some of the Million Moms' detractors are organizing a countermarch on the same day, two blocks away. Grass Roots North Carolina (www.grnc.org), a statewide nonprofit group, is organizing a countermarch that will take place on the sidewalks of Edenton and Morgan streets from 1p.m. to 4p.m., said the group's president, Paul Valone.

KABA NOTE: The father wanted to shoot the dog, so deputies confiscated his handgun? What for? He wasn't a danger to anybody! And, according to the article, the dog will likely be put to sleep anyway!

OPPOSE S.767 - Gun Show Background Check Act

Here is the latest and "greatest" gun show regulation bill proposed in Congress. It would require the following:

1) Private gun sales to be made through a dealer with a background check;
2) Gun show promoters to register with the BATF and pay a fee; and
3) Dealers to report all transactions of private gun sales to the BATF.

KABA NOTE: In other words, S.767 would see to it that all private gun sales between individuals were federally banned. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE. Do the twenty cosponsors of this bill think that criminals will suddenly begin to transfer their weapons through the BATF? Of course not. They want to register all the LEGAL weapons in America.

Handgun manufacturers cannot be held liable for shooting deaths and injuries suffered by seven people because of the supposedly negligent way the weapons were marketed and distributed, the state's highest court ruled Thursday. The Court of Appeals decided 7-0 that the chain linking gun makers with the seven individuals is too tenuous legally to ascribe liability to the manufacturers.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside...Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them... — Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 (1894).
