A repeated ploy of the gun control movement is to loudly proclaim law-abiding Second Amendment supporters are using “scare tactics” while opposing proposed gun control.
U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), the “Honey Pot Congressman,” isn’t new to this charade. His record is one of strict gun control support. That includes a failed presidential campaign playing second fiddle to Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke to carry the gun control water. |

The death of ten-year-old Lily Peters has prompted difficult conversations for parents, with some wanting to make sure their children can defend themselves.
"The term self-defense is kind of a broad spectrum of terms and different moves," said Nicholas Stetzer, a School Resource Officer with the Wausau Police Department.
Much of those moves are taught locally at places like Halama's Championship Martial Arts, where some kids say they enjoy the exercises in their class and feel they're getting something positive out of the experience. |

I also observed protests where people packed weapons, body armor, etc., people representing some militia. This type of Third World mentality does more damage to our communities then good. This is not a constructive means to get your point across, it is intimidation, it disrespectful of our Constitution and it is dangerous to our community. We have an organized well trained militia, it is called The National Guard, respected all over the world. We do not need an untrained, misinformed group of wannabes, assuming they know the rule of law and are the law. We also do not need that type of Third World mentality sitting on our commission. Do your research before making your choice. |

But I have a problem as a moderate Republican. There are no middle-of-the-road candidates. All I see are supporters of former President Donald Trump, ultra-right in their philosophies, go beyond sanity on the Second Amendment, have campaign ads that are nothing but negative statements about their opponents and blame the present administration for everything. |

A mother said her son had a gun pointed at him while in their own driveway in Orlando early Thursday morning, so he fired back in self-defense.

"He say, ‘what are you doing? Why are you watching my car?,'" Vasquez said. |

And yet, the case progressed. In the fall of 2021, Craig Matheson, who leads the Violent Crimes Unit at the Snohomish County Prosecutors Office, declined to press charges due to evidence not meeting the legal standard for a crime; specifically, he cited an inability to “disprove self-defense.” On review, Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Matt Baldock concurred with Matheson’s assessment. The police report, however, raises questions and reveals previously unreported facts. |

Except it’s not the first. Remember that “Second Amendment Coalition” his father announced and made him chairman of back in 2016? The one he co-chaired with fired NRA-ILA honcho and bump stock “regulator” Chris Cox? If you don’t recall that group, it’s probably because it didn’t actually do much of anything and the webpage was taken down a half-a-year later.
As for “plans to make a push,” it’s fair to ask for whom. His father’s Mehmet Oz pick comes to mind. Are there any other candidates gun owners may have concerns about? |

From 2014 to 2020, six small retailers in south and northeast Philadelphia sold more than 11,000 weapons that were later recovered in criminal investigations or confiscated from owners who had obtained them illegally, according to an examination of Pennsylvania firearms tracing data by the gun control group Brady, the most comprehensive analysis of its kind in decades.
The report’s conclusions confirm what law enforcement officials have long known. A small percentage of gun stores — 1.2 percent of the state’s licensed dealers, according to Brady — accounted for 57 percent of firearms that ended up in the hands of criminals through illegal resale or direct purchases by “straw” buyers who turned them over to people barred from owning guns. |

Except for one thing: gun control.
Ignoring the gun issue in a gun violence incident is ridiculous enough, and it is equally absurd that mask-wearing had to bear the onus at a crime scene. But sadly, such an attitude falls in line with the popular belief shared by a significant number of Americans, that "excessive" mask mandates are somehow more noxious to society than an excessive number of guns. It reflects a disturbing anomaly in today's America, where, even during a pandemic, guns are viewed as a necessity while masks are treated as a liability. |

Two House Democrats urged the Transportation Security Administration on Thursday to crack down on the growing threat of firearms at airports, days after a Republican congressman was caught bringing a gun to a TSA checkpoint.
Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C., was cited Tuesday on a misdemeanor criminal charge after the TSA intercepted a loaded 9 mm handgun as it passed through a security checkpoint at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Just over a year earlier, Cawthorn reportedly had an unloaded Glock 9 mm handgun taken from him at another North Carolina airport after TSA workers found the weapon in his carry-on bag. |
