Attorneys representing the Second Amendment Foundation and its partners in a federal lawsuit challenging the ban on so-called “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines” in Illinois have filed a response brief to the state in their effort to have the U.S. Supreme Court grant certiorari in the case, which is known as Harrel v. Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) and Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN) signed Second Amendment privacy acts this week barring the use of credit card merchant codes to collect data on retail firearm purchasers.

Kemp signed HB 1018 on Monday and Lee signed SB 2223 on Tuesday. Their signatures bring the total number of states with Second Amendment privacy act protections to 14.

A homeowner in Surprise, Arizona, shot and wounded one of two alleged burglary suspects shortly after 4:00 a.m. Monday.

FOX 10 Phoenix reported that officers responded to the scene and took both suspects into custody. The suspect who had been shot was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On April 24, 2024, the Orange County Register’s editorial board mocked Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) failed push for a gun control amendment to the United States Constitution.

Breitbart News reported that on June 8, 2023, Newsom proposed an amendment to the United States Constitution which he hoped could be secured and used to restrict gun ownership.

South Dakota’s Attorney General, Marty Jackley, has joined 24 other state Attorneys General to file an amicus brief challenging a California law that would prohibit firearm magazines with the capacity of holding more than 10 rounds.

The U.S. Commerce Department last Friday unveiled a new rule that aims to make last year's "temporary pause" on overseas gun exports a much more enduring roadblock. The 130-page Interim Final Rule, announced by the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security, comes six months after the agency's 90-day halt in issuing any new export licenses for firearms, ammunition, and related items announced last October.
