Denying that there are evil people who will use any object to cause maximum carnage is counterproductive. It oversimplifies the problem by merely blaming a piece of metal. History is riddled with psychotic or deranged persons who committed large numbers of homicides. Gun owners and NRA members will be the first to admit that there are some people who should not even own a BB gun! |

After seeing the groups of people marching around different parts of the country, and watching some of the videos of just how uninformed they are on the real facts and issues surrounding firearms, mass murders and violent crime in general, it brought to my mind a question that I just figured out the answer to.
What kind of person wants to have their own Constitutional Rights taken away? I thought about that for a very long time and could not come up with an answer. Being uninformed on the topic does not excuse it, being misled cannot excuse it. Someone telling you that it is for your own good definitely should not excuse it.

After reading and watching the reports about the “national” day of protest recently, and listening to dozens of media talking heads tell us just how “great”, “fantastic” and “mature” these high school students are, I almost lost my logical, calm mind.
Enough is enough! First off, the State of Florida just passed a law stating that 18-20 year-olds are not old enough, mature enough, and cannot be trusted to buy firearms of any kind. Hold on! Why am I supposed to listen to the voices of high school kids when it comes to firearms and gun violence, yet I cannot trust those same kids until they turn 21? How does that make sense?

It is a reminder of the classic Bugs Bunny gun duel scene with Yosemite Sam, except the opposite. As the battle for weapon supremacy reaches epic proportions after Sam unholsters a ten shooter handgun, the point is illustrated, where will it end? And then Bugs fires the underwhelming punchline.
As the UK continues to impose strict gun laws on citizens, the alarming spike in the murder rate in London, with the weapon of choice a simple knife, articulates the crises of societal engineering and the consequences of severe limitation of individual self-defense. |

In a remarkable reversal of a long-standing trend, the number of active concealed pistol licenses in Washington State has dropped by 11,000 over the past four months, a fact that might be alarming to gun rights groups, but may also suggest a return of lethargy in the firearms community.
The news comes as Evergreen State gun rights activists are planning two events in Olympia, one week apart. There’s an April 14 event running 5:30-8:30 p.m., organized by the National Constitutional Coalition of Patriotic Americans, and on April 21, noon-3 p.m. there’s a “March For Our Rights” rally. Both of these events will be held on the Capitol steps. |

British media reports about a wave of knife-related murders in London underscore what an American gun rights group is calling the “dirty little secret of gun control” because criminals simply do not obey the law and the people responsible for passing such laws are cowards for not admitting it.
So says Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, a national gun rights organization based in Washington State. He was reacting to reports that 15 people have been murdered in London over the past 19 days, and most of them were stabbed. |

Another petition aimed at stricter gun laws has been filed in Oregon state. This one, however, would only make relatively modest changes to how firearms are stored, transported, and shared with minors—according to the group Oregonians for Safe Gun Storage, who filed the petition. “Establishing clear standards for responsible firearm storage will save lives," said chief petitioner and Gun Owners for Responsible Ownership PAC leader Jenna Yuille. "Unsafely stored firearms pose an immediate danger. People who gain unintended access often cause harm to themselves and others”

Indianapolis prosecutors have determined that a woman, who was arrested in connection with a shooting death, won’t face murder charges because she was ruled to have acted in self-defense. Officials originally sought the armed citizen in connection with possible murder charges because she wasn’t at the scene when the police showed up. After she learned that she was a person of interest in a death investigation, the woman turned herself in. Witnesses, under later questioning, informed police that they had seen a fight that, at one point, resulted in the woman being pinned against a fence. Gunshots were heard after that point.

After a 19-year-old with an AR 15-style rifle took 17 lives Feb. 14 at a high school in Parkland, Florida, some Americans demanded more restrictions on gun ownership. A retired Supreme Court justice, John Paul Stevens, used a New York Times op-ed March 27 to become perhaps the most prominent liberal to date to call for repealing the Second Amendment, which guarantees an individual’s right to bear arms.

While a college education is certainly not what it used to be, the process of applying to college is still a great opportunity for students to gain real world experience. Students learn the importance of marketing one’s skills and qualifications to a prospective “employer,” then either receive an offer (acceptance), or are passed over (rejection) for someone that institution feels is a more qualified candidate.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775]. |
