SWAT team officers prying open Peter Keller's elaborate underground bunker Saturday morning worried the heavily armed survivalist might try to ambush them or blow them up with a booby trap.
Instead, after using explosives to loosen the lid to his 20-foot-long, two-story hideout, they found his body, a pistol and a pool of blood, said King County Sheriff Steve Strachan.
Authorities believe Keller shot himself in the head, though they aren't sure when.

Patty Glomb, recording clerk in the Genesee County Clerk’s Office, sat at her desk Tuesday and motioned to her left and right, then behind and in front of her. Her work space in County Building 1 was surrounded by drawers and cabinets full of file folders, all of them applications from county residents for new, amended or upgraded pistol permits. She and her co-workers, are, pun intended, under the gun. “It’s almost impossible to keep up,” Glomb said.

On Wednesday of Social Justice Week, Black Star Project, a Chicago-based community organizing group, was brought into the school after school hours to teach students about “non-violent” protesting. Led by Phillip Jackson, former “Chief of Education” under former Mayor Richard Daley, the optional discussion was focused on students fighting back against gun crime. ...
But Jackson apparently had no interest in allowing students to come to their own conclusions on gun ownership.

In an announcement posted today in Virginia's Regulatory Town Hall, the Virginia Department of Conservation served notice to the public that the "[r]epeal of § 4VAC5-30-200 [which] prohibits the open carry of firearms in Virginia State Parks" will be published . . . . This action by Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell's administration is the final chapter in a decade long regulatory fight to legalize gun carry in Virginia State Parks that spanned three state Governors and three Attorneys General. . . .

But [VCDL] President Philip Van Cleave says "it's not over." There are still "a number of obscure state regulations banning gun carry without statutory authority and we are going to ferret them out," added Van Cleave.

POLICE OFFICERS have been warned of a new threat to their lives -- a holster that allows criminals to hide their guns and even fire through their clothing, police sources said.
The safety alert, posted in precincts throughout the city, advises cops of the dangerous so-called "ghost holsters."ť ...
Officers have been told to be extra diligent when patting down suspects, something police do about 300,000 times a year. ...
No ghost holsters have been found in the city.

SUBMITTER'S COMMENT: Just when the NYPD is being excoriated for its excessive "stop and frisk" policies and just when its police commissioner is being touted as being the best candidate for NYC Mayor, a "ghost holster" appears on the scene to justify it all.

Peter Keller spent eight years carving his hole in the side of the mountain, camouflaging the rugged underground bunker with ferns and sticks and stocking it with a generator and ammunition boxes sealed in Ziploc bags. Suspected in the deaths of his wife, daughter and pets last weekend, he headed there prepared for the long haul with high-powered rifles, scope and body armor.
Seattle-area tactical officers who slogged for hours over dangerously steep, muddy ground to find him were prepared too. They pumped in tear gas, called for him over bullhorns, and, after 22 hours, set off explosives along the top of the bunker Saturday.
Keller was inside, already dead of a self-inflicted gunshot. A handgun was next to his body.

Fears linked to November's election, street crime, civil unrest, doomsday prophecies and even a zombie apocalypse have metro Detroiters buying firearms at a brisk pace. But the boom times in gun sales are not as lucrative for local gun shops as they could be.

That's because gun retailers can't get more weapons from manufacturers, which are flooded with orders for the most popular pistols, rifles and shotguns.

Last week I wrote that one of our last recourses as patriots and citizens of the United States was to impanel our own grand juries, as proscribed in the Constitution, and bring criminal charges against those establishment politicians and public servants who are bringing down our nation through their corrupt actions. While our illegitimate president, Barack Hussein Obama, remains at the top of the list — and indeed I am taking steps to properly have him indicted for his fraudulent and treasonous acts — another obvious legal target of We the People's push for justice should be Duval County State Attorney Angela Corey.

Daniel Adkins knew his son would never leave Lady. So when animal control officers showed up at the door with Daniel Jr.'s yellow lab in tow, "I felt like he was calling out to me for help."

Something was definitely wrong.

Adkins and his wife, Antonia, had searched the neighborhood just hours earlier, tracing their missing son's footsteps down two miles of dusty road to a cluster of strip malls. But they didn't make it as far as the Taco Bell. If they had, they would have come across the flashing police lights and the body of Daniel Jr., lying on the asphalt by the drive-thru window, with Lady by his side.

Prophets Park came alive April 20 for the 18th annual Zanesville Area Friends of NRA Banquet.

The event has sold out four consecutive years.

The crowd was a mixture of professions, from doctors to factory workers and business owners to bikers. A senator and sheriff were present. The one thing they all have in common is their love of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. These Americans fervently believe that right should not be infringed upon.

When I was growing up in South Dakota, fireworks were everywhere during the summer. Boys spent much of June and July blowing things up. All kinds of fireworks were legal, and the firecrackers of the time–Zebras were our favorites–contained significantly more gunpowder than today’s watered-down versions. Still more powerful firecrackers were illegal but widely available–cherry bombs, silver salutes, and M80s.

He took a pro-gun position to a new level, even managing to suggest that battery-powered cars like the Chevrolet Volt posed a threat to the Second Amendment. “You can’t put a gun rack in a Volt,” he told his fellow Georgians. “We believe in the right to bear arms, and we like to bear the arms in our trucks.” Two weeks ago, he vowed that “a Gingrich presidency will submit to the U.N. a treaty that extends the right to bear arms as a human right to every person on the planet.”

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
To have no proud monarch driving over me with his gilt coaches; nor his host of excise-men and tax-gatherers insulting and robbing me; but to be my own master, my own prince and sovereign, gloriously preserving my national dignity, and pursuing my true happiness; planting my vineyards, and eating their luscious fruits; and sowing my fields, and reaping the golden grain: and seeing millions of brothers all around me, equally free and happy as myself. This, sir, is what I long for. -- General Francis Marion, American War of Independence, Georgetown, SC [Source: 'Marion, The Life of Gen. Francis Marion' by M. L. Weems, Ch.18]
