Are we safer if we arrest honest citizens who carry guns into bars and restaurants that serve alcohol? Where you end up in the debate is usually right where you started. We don’t change our opinion very often or very easily. Most people who enter the bar will never be violent, and it is hard to solve a small problem if we create a larger one. |

A Texas woman killed an intruder who broke into her San Antonio home Thursday night.
Police said the shooting took place at about 10 p.m., according to KSAT-TV when the woman, who was in her 30s, was in the house with her three children and heard noises that sounded like someone entering her home.
Police said a man entered the house through a laundry room at the rear of the building. He then tried to break into the door leading to the main portion of the house where the woman and her children were located. |

Will Elon Musk change Twitter’s political policy on banning advertisements for anything they perceive as a weapon? The list is broad and purely political.
Elon Musk has been making headlines with his acquisition of Twitter. Twitter has become famous for taking sides during the 2020 election by banning the New York Post, after it released the bombshell article about the Hunter Biden laptop and Biden family corruption. After the election, they banned sitting President Donald Trump. |

Florida agriculture commissioner and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried held a meeting with gun violence prevention activists on Thursday to address the lawsuit she recently filed against the Biden administration that seeks to protect Second Amendment rights for medical marijuana patients.
And while some progressive advocates initially balked at the action to increase the ability of certain people to possess firearms, key community members say that Fried’s outreach and education helped raise awareness of the legal issues at hand, and they support the effort on a constitutional and public safety basis. |

Gov. Ron DeSantis said he’s aiming to allow Floridians to express their second amendment rights by publicly carrying firearms without a permit or without a training course. He promises to make it law before he’s done being governor.
It’s known as “constitutional carry.”
DeSantis made the political promise while speaking near Gainesville on Friday.
“I can’t tell you exactly when, but I’m pretty confident that I will be able to sign ‘constitutional carry’ into law in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said. |

Iowa is considering becoming the twenty‐fifth state to enact a law compelling private property owners to allow guns on their premises. The laws take various forms, often prohibiting employers, retailers, or organizations more generally from maintaining a no‐guns‐on‐premises rule. Some bans apply only in specified narrow circumstances (e.g., in employee parking lots as regards locked firearms in car trunks) and some are broader.
As Cato adjunct scholar Ilya Somin argues, these laws infringe on owners’ property rights, do not advance authentic Second Amendment liberties, and often interfere with legitimate customer and co‐worker interests. |

Gun Owners of America, which describes itself as the “no-compromise gun lobby,” is preparing a legal challenge to President Joe Biden’s ghost gun regulation, according to GOA Senior Vice President Erich Pratt.
In a memorable April Rose Garden press conference, during which Biden showed how to put together gun parts, he announced a new rule imposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) at the urging of the Biden administration, which does several things to restrict gun access. It bans the business of manufacturing unserialized “buy-build-shoot” kits that can be purchased without a background check. The kits contain parts that can be assembled into a gun. |

Alec Baldwin has decided it’s a good idea for him to weigh in on the Second Amendment in America.
Baldwin has been accused of allegedly shooting and killing Halyna Hutchins in a tragic event while filming the movie “Rust.” The weapon the actor was holding was loaded with live ammo and the subsequent shot killed the young woman.
Despite the fact you’d think he would never want to publicly discuss weapons given the situation he’s in, it turns out he doesn’t mind calling for gun control for other people! |

California politicians are abusing their legislative authority to draft political reprisal bills. Left coast lawmakers want to pass a law allowing the state’s attorney general, city or county attorneys, or anyone regardless of whether they suffered harm, to sue the maker or seller of a firearm that was illegally used to inflict harm.
It’s a bill that California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom called for and one that Democratic state Sen. Robert Hertzberg was glad to deliver with SB 1327. It specifically targets precursor parts used to build personally-made firearms – or so-called “ghost guns” – and Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) along with .50-caliber rifles, both of which are already banned in California. |

Many criminals look at senior citizens as easy targets, believing they can rob or attack elderly Americans, whether at home or in public, with little chance of the victim fighting back. Crimes against the elderly at home are particularly common, with the Bureau of Justice Statistics reporting that elderly victims are significantly more likely to be victimized at or near their home than victims under the age of 65. |

But in this case, Sutter and others argue Coleman acted in self-defense, trying to protect himself and others when two people walked up to the car he was in and started firing shots.
That's when Coleman said he shot back.
But the Rock Hill Police investigation reveals a different story.
“After an initial exchange of gunfire, the two teenage victims were wounded and laying on the ground, the defendant then returned to the scene and executed both of them by shooting and killing them," Detective Taylor Tucker with the Rock Hill Police Department said.
Regardless of the narrative, the fact remains that three young lives were taken that night. |

Yesterday, the New Hampshire Senate voted to pass ATV Carry. Thanks to the strong support of NRA members and Second Amendment supporters, this important legislation will be enrolled and heads to the Governor’s desk for further consideration this session. Please act now to contact Governor Sununu and respectfully request that he sign House Bill 1636 when it reaches his desk!
House Bill 1636: “ATV-Carry” allows the carry of a loaded firearm on an Off-Highway Recreation Vehicle (OHRV) or snowmobile. This legislation also helps to clean up the law from when Permitless Carry was passed and a snowmobile prohibition remained. |

“We used to be a leader on Second Amendment. There’s like 25 states that have already done it,” DeSantis continued, referring to constitutional carry.
“And I think if you look now, you have a situation where the official in charge of these permits doesn’t support Second Amendment rights. So, why would you want to subcontract out your constitutional rights to a public official that rejects the very existence of those rights?
“The Legislature will get it done. I can’t tell you if it’s going to be next week, six months, but I can tell you that before I am done as governor, we will have a signature on that bill.” |

This week, State Sen. Rick Brattin, R-Harrisonville, successfully added language to House Bill 1606 exempting all purchases of firearms and ammunition from state and local sales tax in Missouri.
“Across our nation, there is a movement by anti-gun forces to tax guns out of existence,” said Sen. Brattin. “We have to fight back against this and one way we can do that is stopping the unconstitutional taxing of our guns and ammunition. The Second Amendment is a basic constitutional right and there’s no reason any government should be taxing that right or putting up deliberate barriers to keep Missourians from exercising their right to keep and bear arms.” |

State leaders are prepared to mirror the federal crackdown recently announced on so-called “ghost guns.”
Gov. Tom Wolf joined law enforcement officials during a news conference in York Friday, condemning gun violence and claiming “ghost guns” are frequently being seized from crime scenes.
“‘Ghost guns’ are not subject to checks and balances that keep legal gun owners in our communities safe,” Wolf said. “The numbers don’t lie. ‘Ghost guns’ are being seized and recovered from crime scenes.” |

The debate that led to Henry’s fiery oration was over a resolution he introduced to go forward with Virginians arming and organizing to protect themselves from the tyranny of the royal government and military occupation. Henry’s resolution said that “a well-regulated militia is the natural strength and only security of a free government” and was “at this time, peculiarly necessary for the protection and defense of the country.”
If those words sound familiar, they should. Much of that same language ended up in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. |
