"It’s one of those bizarre stories that drops the jaws of those of us jaded by years of observing the hypocrisy, the double standards, and the in-your-face breaking of rules that seemingly defines the elites of the gun-ban crowd. California State Senator Leland Yee, a leading proponent in Golden State citizen disarmament, has been arrested in a conspiracy sting involving, among other things, Islamic militants and proposed illegal arms trafficking deals."

"We’ve seen unfathomable disconnects before over the years, and even reported on such head-scratchers in this column ... That such revelations continue to surprise us speaks more to the simple candor by which peaceable gun owners conduct themselves than anything else: we view the disingenuous as freaks ..." ...

"Think back only a few months to the murders at Sandy Hook. That is when the anti-gun media launched every smear they could imagine. ... Anti-gun billionaires also threw millions of dollars into politics as they supported anti-gun politicians and anti-gun legislation. Together, their tactics worked in a few states, and failed miserably in most. There has also been a backlash in support of the human right of self-defense. The 'we will not comply' movement of non-violent resistance sprang up in the face of the new anti-gun firearms laws. The culture of responsible gun ownership grew despite the best efforts of these anti-gun journalists and politicians."

"Americans are laboring under the false impression that the next terrorist attack will be another cataclysmic, 9/11-style assault. They also believe that spree killings are committed by lone, drug-addled psychopaths who kill themselves the moment they face armed opposition. The most recent Fort Hood shooting fits 'safely' into the latter category. Spec. Ivan Lopez was alone. He was mentally ill. He 'only' killed three people. Police responded quickly enough (unless you happen to be one of the 19 people shot). So there’s nothing to see here folks, save the usual missed opportunities to forestall the firearms frenzy and individual tales of tragedy and heroism. Oh sure . . ." ...

Submitter's Note: First of all, I am "an active shooter" (or at least I was until health issues started limiting my time on the firing line) you are talking about spree-killing shooters and yes more can be done to address this issue: BAN "GUN-FREE" ZONES and quit providing spree shooters with threat free, target rich, abattoirs!

Mr. Paul posted the pic on Facebook, proclaiming 'Braving the gun rally and standing up for the overwhelming majority of Connecticut residents.' Bragg, North Carolina, as an artilleryman with the 82nd Airborne Division. ... As a kind of motivational and unit cohesion-building measure, on the day a brigade assumes alert status, the unit was to do the morning run as a whole, rather than the usual practice of morning PT (physical training) at the company level."

We’ve explained several reasons why it’s used. There’s one more, and it surprises folks until they look at what the courts call 'the totality of the circumstances.'"

"Folks like Moms Demand Action, a campaign run and funded by Michael Bloomberg, keep trying to make the association between cigarettes and guns. It’s a smart move, since the 'progressive' movement was very successful in branding those who argued in favor of cigarettes as being in the pocket of 'big tobacco' and kept ramming through more restrictions on when and where people can enjoy their favorite tobacco products. We see no reason why anyone should discriminate against an American seeking to exercise their natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. But if someone doesn’t want people carrying a firearm on their property it’s their right to ban guns from their property. Just as it’s our right not to visit them if that’s the way they want to be about it. ... "We have had the benefit of more than two decades of [Post-Waco] hindsight, and no one -- especially the forces of state violence in CT -- should expect that their victims will be as obliging as the Davidians. Indeed, I learned in a conversation with a resident of the state this week that the scariest words that form and inform the nightmares of the LE analysts in that state is the haunting phrase of an imaginary phone call: 'They're coming.' The analysts know, if the politicians do not, that CT law enforcement is riddled with resisters ... who will send out the Paul Revere warning when they learn the raid parties are on the way."

"It doesn't take a military genius to figure that some ... will get their families out and stay behind, because of health reasons or stubbornness, determined to give the raid party a real ambush as the Davidians did not."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
You are bound to meet misfortune if you are unarmed because, among other reasons, people despise you....There is simply no comparison between a man who is armed and one who is not. It is unreasonable to expect that an armed man should obey one who is unarmed, or that an unarmed man should remain safe and secure when his servants are armed. In the latter case, there will be suspicion on the one hand and contempt on the other, making cooperation impossible. — Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince."
