Taurus attracted attention in 2019 when the company launched its full-size G3 striker-fired handgun, based off the smaller G2c, chambered in 9 mm Luger. After the design proved to be a commercial success, a year later, the Brazilian-based company followed up the launch of the G3 with a compact version, the G3c, which was reviewed by American Rifleman staff back in 2020. |

Once again, another nation is providing the United States with a stark warning as to what happens to the people’s right to keep and bear arms when it is insufficiently protected in the law. On April 30 of this year, the Canadian government says it will begin prosecuting Canadians who continue to possess any of the 1,500 models of firearm that, until May of 2020, it had been perfectly legal for them to own. The guns in question have been described by the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, as “military-grade assault weapons,” but they are, of course, no such thing. Rather, they are the most commonly produced rifles, pistols, shotguns and carbines in the world, including the AR-10, the AR-15 and the Mini-14. |

Remember all the angst we heard about in the media regarding supposed law enforcement opposition to Senate Bill 215 (Permitless Carry)?
"The Ohio FOP opposes it!" they screamed. "The Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police don't want it!" they shouted.
Leaving aside (at least for now) the irony of the same media that have spent the past several years ginning up every instance of (or supposed instance of) law enforcement brutality or abuse having automatically taken everything these same law enforcement groups said about SB 215 as gospel truth, I have still found it interesting, now that the law has passed, to see what actual rank and file law enforcement officers saying about this new law. |

What we need, apparently, are more guns. More guns, bigger guns, in more hands, cars, homes, purses, pockets and plenty of other places.
More more more. Always more; certainly never less.
After all, we’ve been told for decades that more guns make us safer, that an armed society is a polite society. Over those decades, we’ve pursued that theory with an impressive fervor, loosening gun laws, making guns more easily available and visible. In the United States alone, some 19 million firearms were sold in 2022, which means that in just one year, private citizens in this country bought more guns than most militaries possess in all their armories. |

This is body cam footage from an officer-involved shooting on Feb. 23, 2022. While the incident involved police officers responding to a shooting, there are two main takeaways that we, as concealed carriers, can learn from this.
The incident started at the PlazAmericas Mall in Houston, TX. Deputy Neil Adams worked as a security guard for the mall when he confronted a shoplifter. The suspect punched the deputy and managed to gain control of his gun during the struggle. He then shot and killed the deputy. |

Georgia lawmakers have struck a huge blow for the Second Amendment.
Before adjourning from its 2022 session on Tuesday, the state’s General Assembly passed a bill recognizing the constitutional right to carry a firearm without a permit. It’ll become law when Gov. Brian Kemp signs it, as he’s promised to do.
“I look forward to signing the Georgia Constitutional Carry Act of 2021 into law soon and fulfilling another promise I made to the voters of this state,” Kemp, a Republican, wrote in a Twitter post last week. |

In the case, Duncan, et al. v. Rob Bonta, in His Official Capacity as Attorney General of California, No. 21-1194 (2022), Petitioner Virginia Duncan along with similarly situated plaintiffs sued California arguing California Penal Code § 32310, as amended by Ca. Senate Bill 1446, along with Proposition 63 (2016), the combination of which served to prohibit Californian’s possession of large-capacity magazines, is an unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment right to bear arms. |

But Dettlebach is not simply a “former federal attorney.”
In 2018, Dettlebach unsuccessfully ran for public office, promising a host of new gun control initiatives if elected, including:
An Assault Weapons Ban Universal Background Registration Checks Gun confiscation for misdemeanor crimes Gun confiscation for those dealing with mental health issues “closing” the made-up “over the Internet” and fake “gun show loophole[s]” Disarming teachers and keeping schools as “soft targets”
In fact, Dettlebach used his position as a US Attorney to advocate for gun control for years, publishing op-eds such as Requiring universal background checks make sense. |

No charges will be filed in the death of a man shot and killed in Jeannette two and a half years ago, the Westmoreland County district attorney announced Wednesday.
Citing the Castle Doctrine, District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli said Mariell McGowan-Means was killed in self-defense.
McGowan was one of three people shot at a home on Cuyler Avenue on Oct. 28, 2019.
According to Ziccarelli, the shooter knew McGowan and two other men were armed, intended to hurt him and were part of an armed home invasion and “brutal” assault earlier in the evening before they came to his home. |

After a six day trial, an Anne Arundel County Circuit Court jury found a 27-year-old Pennsylvania man not guilty on all counts Friday in the stabbing death Aug. 28 of an Odenton resident found slain in Severn.
Dominique Rashad Lewis had been accused of first-degree murder and a weapons offense after 35-year-old Eddie Dawson Jr., of Odenton, was found unresponsive last summer in the roadway of Periwinkle Way in Severn, where he was later declared dead. Police said Lewis had stabbed Dawson, who was there to confront an ex-girlfriend, the mother of a child fathered by Lewis. |

If the above sounds outrageous to you, you’re not alone. But, owning a gun and using it for protection is not as straightforward as you might think. That’s because while Colorado Democrats in the General Assembly can’t outright ban gun ownership thanks to the Second Amendment, they’ve made fair progress toward making gun ownership impractical. And while Republicans are trying to safeguard Second Amendment rights, they’re facing an uphill battle. Here’s what just happened in the Colorado House of Representatives and why it matters to the overall picture of gun ownership. |

If there’s any way out of this very dark wormhole of gun violence, it’s the possibility that an empowered majority of Americans are waking up to the truth. The truth is that the Second Amendment can be protected without enabling easy access to assault weapons.
These weapons have been mistaken as a fundamental value of our democracy, somehow enshrined in our Constitution and Bill of Rights, but they are not. Nobody needs a machine gun for self-defense or anything else. Nobody needs to fire 600 rounds in a minute.
Too often, these guns are about death, not self-protection. They are about taking away the most fundamental right: the right to exist, and to do it without fear. |

A gun owner currently carrying a firearm in Florida also needs to carry a license with them while possessing the weapon.
According to the Florida Department of Agriculture, which oversees the license program, the state of Florida currently leads the nation with more than two million concealed weapon license holders.
On the latest episode of To The Point Already, Spectrum Bay News 9 anchor Rick Elmhorst talks with lawmakers about carrying weapons with or without a concealed weapon permit.
Currently in order to get that license you must take firearms a training course.
But some state lawmakers want to change that. |

A majority of St. Lawrence County legislators do not think tax should be levied on ammunition sales to help study gun violence.
The Board of Legislators on Monday night passed a resolution opposing such a tax.
The resolution cites legislation proposed in March by State Sen. Andrew Gounardes, D-Bay Ridge, and Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy, D-Albany, that would create an excise tax on ammunition production in New York. All of the revenue from the tax — between 2 cents and 5 cents per pound of ammunition sold — would support gun violence research and prevention. |

When Julius Caesar, dictator of Rome, was once warned by a soothsayer to, “Beware the Ides of March,” in William Shakespeare’s famous play Julius Caesar, he didn’t take the warning all that seriously and it was on March 15 when Caesar was stabbed to death in the Roman senate by 60 conspirators, including Brutus and Cassius.
Fortunately, three armed citizens in three different states were more prepared to defend themselves when trouble came calling on March 15 of this year. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. — Noah Webster in "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution," 1787, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at p. 56 (New York, 1888). |
