Volusia County officials don't want their names tied to a youth gun shooting club funded by the National Rifle Association.
The NRA Foundation had planned to give the Volusia County Cooperative Extension Service a $2,280 grant to start a 4-H Shooting Sports Club for youth ages 11-18. The publicly funded Cooperative Extension Service oversees 27 different 4-H clubs in Volusia. |

A gun safety bill that would have made gun owners criminally liable for fatal accidents caused by children failed to make it out of Senate subcommittee Tuesday. Republicans on the subcommittee had voiced concerns the bill did not take into account the importance of educating children to stay away from guns, civil liability and the impact the bill could have on self-defense. |

LET THEM DROP OUT -- A response to the killings in suburban high schools, By Jackson Toby
"Why do white middle-class kids from seemingly normal families kill their classmates? How can these crimes be stopped? For answers, we should look to the schools where such crimes almost never happen—bad inner-city schools." |

New Mexico's state constitution does not permit concealed carry. I am so disappointed!
KABA Note: We ran this story two days ago, but this reader noticed that the article says TWO things about the New Mexico State constitution: (1) it prohibits localities from banning guns on their own (as noted previously), and (2) it does NOT have a provision for concealed carry (although it does include the RKBA), and their new CCW law may be in for a big fight. |

"What do we care what they're up to, anyway? They're nice people, the Chinese, and their military donated generously to President Clinton's re-election campaign in 1995 or 1996. Whatever. The real threat to America is George Bush. Him we should force to land on an island somewhere." --Barbara Strisand
~~This and more at the link. She deserves to experience the same violent crimes the policies she supports create. |

"U.S. Stuff is a business that searches for, and sometimes sells, stuff made in the U.S.A. Stuff with the highest U.S content of parts, labor and ownership. Stuff that maybe doesn't exist. But US Stuff believes there is still some of this stuff out there, that somebody out there still wants it and it's going to find The Stuff! Sometimes it could be stuff with even the most miniscule of U.S content, but SOME is better than none!" |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY |
