... "Hillary Clinton, of course, is perceived as a big champion of 'common sense gun safety laws,' if by that you mean edicts to eviscerate the Second Amendment, and urges 'It’s time to get tough on violence against women.'"
"Presumably, violence against men is OK, but lest charges of sexism be unfairly leveled, Ms. Rodham is not completely one-sided. As long as the guy administering the beat-down is her hubby and the target of his abuse is someone who can be dismissed as just another in a long line of bimbo eruptions, Hillary doesn't have all that much to say on the subject." ... |

"It seems a definitional change has taken place somewhere recently. Apparently scofflaw local governments are now the 'little guys' and law-abiding citizens who just want their local governments to obey state laws are the 'big bullies.' At least that’s the way Susan Winston sees things at HuffPo with her piece 'David Vs. Goliath, or Do You Really Want Someone Totin’ a Gun in Your Park?' She’s talking about Pennsylvania’s over 40-year-old preemption law which, after being more and more blatantly ignored by cities and municipalities across the commonwealth was finally given teeth in this past legislative section . . ." ... |

"Should an absolute, end-of-the-world-type disaster occur or should the government simply try to outlaw firearms, many people are fearful that the local or federal law enforcement officers will start knocking on doors and taking away guns and ammunition. Frankly, I don’t believe that’s going to happen, but that doesn’t make the fear of it any less real or warranted to others."
"In recent times a growing tide of fear and skepticism has come about regarding the federal government (and, in some cases, the local government) taking away more rights—inalienable and natural rights necessary to preserve life and liberty. No doubt, those rights have been slowly trampled upon in my lifetime." ... |

"The Australian government is once again planning more draconian gun laws and backdoor gun control against Australians. The Senate Inquiry entitled 'The ability of Australian law enforcement authorities to eliminate gun-related violence in the community' is set to deliver its findings this week after several weeks of hearings. Initially launched by the Australian Greens, Australia’s left wing socialist party who have previously stated they wish to ban handguns for civilians, the inquiry is tasked to look at several facets of alleged increases in firearms violence in Australia . . ." ... |

"The AK-47 is one of the most popular firearms ever made. Millions of copies of the firearm have been used in nearly every single conflict worldwide since the gun was first produced, and it even appears on the national flag of at least one country. Its reliability is unquestioned, its effectiveness well acknowledged, and its ease of use is without equal. But SIG SAUER thought they could do better — produce a modern AK-47 for the modern world. The result: the SIG SAUER 556xi Russian." ... |

Polycase Ammo has introduced some very different new bullets to the market, and suffice it to say my inbox blew up when these were announced. Partly, I assume, because there are some lofty claims made by the manufacturer, but moreso (I think) because I recently published a test of the Lehigh Defense Xtreme Penetrator bullet. For those who are familiar with that particular Philips-head-screwdriver-resembling projectile, these PolyCase ARX bullets bear enough resemblance that people wanted them tested now . . ." ... |

"Senate Bill 941 was passed out of committee today. If you are not familiar with this bill, it calls for increased background checks on private party gun sales, similar to Washington’s I594. No matter how you feel about guns, you should be disgusted at the way the sponsors of this bill have manipulated the legislative process to ram this through. Similar measures have been rejected in the past when put to a vote, so the sponsors have declared it an emergency. By declaring an emergency, it prevents a vote of the people or changes through the initiative process. Oregon already has one of the lowest gun murder rates in the USA ranking at 41st, so I fail to see how this is an emergency." ... |
