With more and more Arizona ranges being closed and threatened with closure due to encroachment by development, it is essential that this legislation pass this year. Call your Representative at (602) 542-4221 and urge him to support SB1008."

"A bit of mystery and a whole lot of confusion surfaced this week when lawmakers considered a new set of rules for public schools that included language that could let students bring guns to school in their locked cars.

"Specifically, the language allows each school board to create an exception to the so-called "zero tolerance" rule that requires expulsion for kids who bring guns to school."

"Gun control has been a fixture of American public policy debate for many years; it has a counterpart in Canada. There, the government made massive cuts in the crime fighting budget -- including freezing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police budget for a decade -- in order to create a massive bureaucracy to register the firearms of ordinary citizens."

"According to Professor Gary Mauser of Simon Fraser University, the misguided effort was based on myths about gun use."

"Colorado lawmakers seem close to a reasonable compromise to give the state a fair, uniform concealed-weapon law to replace the current crazy quilt of local ordinances and practices that vary from one jurisdiction to another."

"The Post has long supported adopting a uniform, statewide law because in some jurisdictions, such as Denver, it has become impossible for an ordinary law-abiding citizen (even one in mortal danger) to obtain a concealed-carry permit."

"The old logging road seemed to stretch on endlessly. We had been walking since daylight, up and down ridges through what seemed like some of the roughest country the Ouachita National Forest had to offer. The Ouachita mountain chain that runs through central western Arkansas is the only mountain chain in North America that runs east and west. And although they aren't mountains in the sense of the Rockies, they have gotten the better of many a turkey hunter."

"I was just introduced to handgun shooting at a range a month ago," said Dubrul, of Rochester Hills. "I thought it was a neat sport. I thought I should take a handgun safety class. As long as I've gone through all that, I thought I might take it a step further. With the CCW (carrying a concealed weapon) class, you learn all the rules and laws."

"Her secret hideout is behind a seamless wall in her one-story ranch house in rural Livermore. A robber could break in, check every room and never know she's a few feet away, calling authorities as she loads a handgun.

"Milani is one of the hundreds of Bay Area residents who have a real-life "panic room," which real estate insiders used to call safe rooms before the hit movie starring Jodie Foster came out."

KABA NOTE: The movie is nothing more than typical Hollywood woman victimization rhetoric. If she is armed properly and is confident in her weapon, and there is only one way into the room, there is no need to "panic."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
There is no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. — Ayn Rand in her must-read novel, Atlas Shrugged
