Tens of thousands of gun owners and Second Amendment activists were sent a message by Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) on Saturday that was eerily reminiscent of what other civil rights advocates were told when they visited the South two generations ago: “You are not welcome here.” If the late Charlton Heston, past five-term National Rifle Association president were still alive and present, as he was in 1999 in Denver following the Columbine tragedy, he might have told Lewis, “We’re already here.” |

I just bought my son his first air rifle. It is a Gamo G-Force breech break rifle in .177 caliber (4.5 mm) shooting a 12 gram steel ball or pellet at 360 feet per second: painful, but not dangerous unless you hit someone in the eye.
The synthetic polymer stock and steel barrel weigh in at just over 4 pounds and from butt plate to muzzle crown, the single-shot rifle is just over 37 inches long. It is perfect for a young man or woman, and will bring him many pleasurable hours shooting at targets, “plinking” or convincing the neighborhood field rats that they are not welcome on our property. |

After eight long years, we once again have a president who respects and cherishes individual freedom. For America’s law-abiding gun owners, the Trump administration is proving to be among the best in history. So it’s important to take stock of all he has accomplished on behalf of the Second Amendment in a very short time. |

A bill that supporters argue would strengthen Second Amendment rights could be a disaster for the image of the Grand Strand, officials in multiple jurisdictions said.
On Tuesday, Myrtle Beach Police Chief Warren Gall said a measure under consideration in the general assembly could make law enforcement’s job more difficult, because it would be legal to carry a weapon openly as long as a user doesn’t intend to use it for an unlawful purpose. But police can only prove someone intended to use a gun unlawfully after a crime has occurred, he said. |

Among the tens of thousands of people who took part in the National Rifle Association convention here, women were an obvious minority. The thing that seemed to unite them was an overwhelming enthusiasm for President Trump. An attendee passes by a large banner advertising a handgun during the NRA convention at the Georgia World Congress Center on Thursday in Atlanta. President Trump gave the keynote the address to the convention, where the women who helped him beat Hillary Clinton are sticking with him.

Minnesota residents who have permits to carry handguns may now be able to purchase guns from licensed dealers without the normally required background checks. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Friday that it has determined that Minnesota's requirements for getting a permit to carry satisfy the background check requirements under federal law for purchasing a firearm. That means carry permits with expiration dates of Aug. 1, 2019, or later, now qualify as alternatives to usual the FBI instant background checks. |

A report released earlier this month by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources shows that deer hunting is down in the state. The Indianapolis Star reported that despite fears that a new state law that expanded the firepower allowed for hunting on private land would increase the number of deer kills, hunters harvested almost 120,000 deer last year, the lowest number since 2003. |

Depending on your political leanings, the 2017 legislative session was either an exercise in right-wing extremism or a long-overdue course correction for the state of Iowa. Regardless of which camp you’re in, you have to acknowledge that what transpired in the Iowa Capitol over the past few months might only be prologue. This same group of lawmakers will reconvene in January 2018, and there are indications it will push even farther down this same path. |

On Friday morning, the first day of the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting, Dwayne Williams was doing a little shopping. At Sig Sauer’s crowded booth, he chatted with a salesperson about the company’s line of assault rifles. President Donald Trump was scheduled to speak in about an hour, but he wanted to keep looking at the aisles and aisles of weapons, maybe find a handgun for his wife. As he ventured toward the Kel-Tec booth, Williams looked around and noticed just the how white the crowd was. |

Sunday wraps up the Great Falls Gun and Antique Show. This show has grown over the last 30 years. Nothing says "Montana" more than a gun show and as you can see behind me here at Montana expo park's four season arena is filled with over 600 vendors but guns and ammunition is not the only thing offered. Of course for many the different choices of guns and ammo are the main attractions. However there's also chances to join gun clubs like the Missouri River Women Shooters.

The protesters chant in English, then in Spanish, as they belt out their rallying cry.
"The people, united, will never be defeated!"
"El pueblo, unido, jamás será vencido!"
Winston-Salem's leaders are hours away from deciding whether to declare this a "welcoming city" for immigrants. And at a rally on the steps of City Hall, supporters of the measure are making their case one last time.

A measure that would increase the cost of hunting, fishing and exploring Colorado’s state parks has cleared the state House of Representatives, but questions about its implications mount as it heads to the Senate. House Bill 1321, which would allow the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife to increase the cap on fees for hunting and fishing licenses for state residents by 50 percent and gradually increase the price over three years, was cleared by the House on a 42-22 bipartisan vote. |
