According to the Simmrin Law Group located in Burbank, California, Washington ranks #8 on its list of the most dangerous states in the country. It wasn’t supposed to happen. Said Seattle City Council President Tim Burgess back in 2015 when his council voted unanimously to raise taxes on gun owners — $25 for each firearm purchased and two cents per round of rimfire ammunition and five cents per round on all other calibers — “A gun violence tax will give us revenue to provide broad-based benefits through research and prevention programs.… City government can and must pursue innovative gun safety measures that save lives and save money.” |

Placing additional background check requirements and delays on 18-20-year-old gun buyers does not run afoul of the Second Amendment, a federal appeals court ruled Friday. A three-judge panel for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled against challengers who took issue with the “enhanced” background check provisions of the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA). The panel found that the plaintiffs failed to show a likelihood of succeeding on the merits of their constitutional claims and declined to issue an injunction against the law. |

Anti-gun Democrats in the California legislature have advanced four more punitive bills out of their policy committees, all of which infringe on lawful gun owners’ Second Amendment rights while having no effect on violent criminals. If passed by the legislature and signed by anti-gun Gov. Gavin Newsom, AB 2917 would make the state’s already unconstitutional red-flag law even more dangerous to lawful gun owners. the measure would allow the court to also consider “threats” directed toward a group or location when decision whether to issue the order. |

Minnesota DFL Senator Nicole Mitchell, facing a serious burglary charge, should be treated with the same suspicion her record suggests she treats gun owners—like criminals—the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said. Mitchell is due in court June 10 as the result of her arrest by Detroit Lakes police for burglary. Published reports say she was apprehended inside her step-mother’s home at about 4:45 a.m. April 22, allegedly taking things belonging to her late father. |

If your trigger finger gets that tingly sensation when you hear the words, “Magnum, full power, and strong recoil” then the 10mm Auto and 357 Magnum might be the right cartridges for your next handgun purchase.
Both centerfire handgun cartridges understand what the term “magnum” means and really pack on the kinetic energy, muzzle velocity, and felt recoil.

While sport shooting and hunting are still undertaken in many countries around the world, our staffers don’t often have the opportunity to test new guns in places as far away and mystical as Australia, but that’s exactly where Executive Editor Evan Brune went with the new rifle that is the subject of this month’s cover story.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? — Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836 |
