With the conclusion of the 2025 legislative session, several bills are still making their way to Governor Lee’s desk for signature to make the new laws official. One such bill awaiting its final gubernatorial seal of approval aims to better protect gunmakers and sellers from frivolous or politically weaponized lawsuits.
HB0873/SB1360 shields firearms, ammunition, and other weapons manufacturers and sellers from lawsuits over the criminal misuse of their products by a third party. In essence, these providers cannot be subject to politically targeted or weaponized suits attempting to hold them responsible for those who use their products to commit crimes. |

One of the rarest U.S. military rifles ever made — missing for nearly 40 years — is now back in federal custody, after an FBI investigation led to its recent seizure from a private collector.
The rifle in question is a U.S. Springfield Model 1868 Trapdoor Saddle Ring Carbine, serial number 1444. Only four of these prototype cavalry carbines were ever built by the Springfield Armory in 1869 and 1870 as the U.S. Army was looking for new post-Civil War weaponry. Two stayed in the armory’s collection, one landed at the Smithsonian, and the last was believed to be in private hands. |

Well, here we go again. The United States Air Force had a brief moment of clarity—just a moment—when it looked like they might start treating their own recruits like real warfighters by letting them carry actual M4 rifles during basic training.
But predictably, that moment passed faster than a Beltway politician dodging accountability.
According to the Air Force’s top brass, arming trainees with real, live-fire-capable rifles throughout boot camp is just too hard. Too many “logistical challenges,” they say. Too much responsibility. Heaven forbid young Americans who sign up to wear the uniform actually handle the tools of war early on—tools they’ll be expected to be intimately familiar with when the real fight starts. |

Last week, I watched the heartbreaking news out of Florida State University – another campus turned into a crime scene, another community shattered by gun violence. As someone who lost her husband in a school shooting, I can tell you: these moments are never just headlines, they are wounds that never fully heal. Chris Hixon, my husband, was murdered on February 14, 2018, during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre. He was an athletic director, a Navy veteran and, above all, a protector. When the shooting began, he did not hesitate. He ran toward…

Now that the Duncan decision has been issued, Miller is once again active. And California is wasting no time leaning on Duncan to support its assault weapons ban. As William explains, the state’s legal team has filed new briefs that draw heavily on the reasoning in Duncan, where the court ruled that magazines holding more than 10 rounds are not “arms” protected by the Second Amendment but rather “accessories.” |

You work hard, pay your taxes, and expect that money to serve American interests. What if I told you it’s been used—secretly—to bankroll the very people trying to strip you of your Second Amendment rights?
That’s not a conspiracy theory. It’s the conclusion of deep-dive reporting from America’s 1st Freedom, AmmoLand News, and the hard receipts uncovered by watchdogs like Lee Williams and DataRepublican.com. The truth is finally out: a complicated web of nonprofits, government agencies, and billionaire-backed activist groups has been using U.S. taxpayer money—your money—to quietly fund anti-gun propaganda and legislation. |

Attorney General Pam Bondi created a Second Amendment Task Force specifically to look into infringements on our Second Amendment rights. I'm pretty sure the task force isn't large enough because California still exists, to say nothing of New Jersey, Massachusetts, or plenty of other states.
But GOP officials in Colorado are asking for their state to get scrutiny here and now. |

A picture of a pistol on a billboard in Oakland, California, has caused an overreaction that could only come from the gun-hating hand-wringers in The Golden State.
Earlier this month, Turkish pistol maker Canik began advertising on a billboard alongside Interstate 880 in Oakland. The company hoped to interest motorists in its new Mete MC9, a California-compliant semi-auto handgun that, incidentally, is a lot of gun for the money.
While it’s unknown how much interest Canik received from those who saw the ad and wanted to buy a Mete MC9, motorists who were “alarmed” and “shocked” by the ad were plenty willing to let their voices be heard. |

A Hawaii butterfly knife owner can’t receive attorneys’ fees in his challenge to a ban on such weapons, because an amendment to the state law made his lawsuit moot, the en banc Ninth Circuit ruled Wednesday.
The knife owner, Andrew Teter, who sued the state for violating his Second Amendment right to carry the knife, couldn’t get fees because he wasn’t the prevailing party, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said.
An 11-judge panel for the court had previously ruled that Teter’s challenge is moot because as the litigation was proceeding through the appeals process, the Hawaii ... |

State legislators clashed Wednesday before approving a controversial bill that would make it easier to file civil lawsuits against gun manufacturers and make it harder for some residents to obtain a pistol permit.
After more than two hours of debate over the Second Amendment and liability, the state House of Representatives passed the measure by 100 to 46 with five Republicans in favor and five moderate Democrats against.
House Republican leader Vincent Candelora of North Branford said the bill has multiple flaws in allowing more lawsuits against firearms manufacturers, marketers, distributors and retailers. |

The Kirkland Police Department is set to host a Guns for Gift Cards event, allowing community members to exchange unwanted firearms for gift cards.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 17, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Kirkland Justice Center, located at 11750 NE 118th Street.
“These events are a great incentive for Kirkland residents to voluntarily turn in guns they no longer want or need,” said Councilmember Neal Black. “Fewer unwanted guns means a reduced likelihood of accidental injuries and deaths, deaths from suicide, and theft of unsecured firearms.” |

Just announced in March of this year, Heckler & Koch’s new plinker version of the famed G36 chambered for .22 LR was on full display at the NRA’s Annual Meeting for 2025 in Atlanta.
Adopted by the German military (Bundeswehr) back in 1997, the battle-tested service HK G36 is chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO and has been a stalwart among 21st-century military firearms. Its largely polymer design cuts weight while still hosting all the extra amenities expected on a modern battlefield rifle. |
