Honolulu has agreed to grant or deny applications to carry guns in public within four months of submission in response to a lawsuit by residents who complained of delays of up to a year, according to a stipulation signed by a federal judge Friday.
The March lawsuit alleged that the long delays were the city’s way of keeping the permitting process as restrictive as it was before a 2022 U.S. Supreme Court decision in a case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, that upended gun laws nationwide. That included Hawaii, which has long had some of the nation's strictest gun laws. |

A federal appeals court ruled Thursday people convicted of non-violent crimes can own guns if they finished their prison sentence.
In U.S. v. Duarte, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals found a law prohibiting some criminals from owning firearms violated the Second Amendment. The ruling overturned a district court judgement making it illegal for people to possess guns if they were convicted of a crime punishable by more than a year in prison. |

The gun control and gun rights industry is a multi-million dollar industry that has little impact on firearm-related deaths. 64% of Americans think that firearms make homes safer despite firearm-related deaths. 56% of Americans supported stricter gun control in 2023 as opposed to 78% in 1990. 12% of Americans supported relaxed gun control in 2023 compared to only 2% in 1990. |

Lawmakers appear to be putting the final touches on a bill that prohibits the possession of ghost guns — firearms without serial numbers built at home using separately purchased parts.
Ghost guns are often built with ready-made kits or 3D-printed parts, and because the individual parts are not considered guns under federal law, they aren’t subject to the same regulations.
Law enforcement has a harder time tracking these guns, say supporters of the bill, S.209. The bill would bar people from having guns, frames or receivers that lack serial numbers or transferring them to someone else. That would apply to unfinished parts, too. It would also require people who build a gun or a receiver to get it imprinted with a serial number. |

During his two decades with the Baltimore Police Department, Annapolis Police Chief Ed Jackson witnessed plenty of gun buybacks and left with buyer’s remorse.
“We get a lot of guns, but a lot of people have different motivations,” recalled Jackson, “Some people, it was actually said on the air one time, that ‘I’m going to turn this gun in so I can upgrade. Get the money and upgrade,’ and they give you the guns that they don’t want.”
On Saturday, Jackson is going to try something different. |

"I take all domestic violence cases very seriously," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy in a statement. "I also take my role as prosecutor very seriously. "In this case, where both parties were shot with the same gun, the order of events is open to multiple interpretations.
"Considering our burden of proof, we believe this is an appropriate resolution. The decision to offer this plea to this defendant was not what we wanted to do, but it was the just thing to do." |

The alarming trend underscores the need for Americans to safely secure their firearms to prevent them from getting into the hands of dangerous people, said Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Director Steve Dettelbach, whose agency has separately found links between stolen guns and violent crimes.

A Florida sheriff released body camera video Thursday showing a deputy outside an apartment door and firing immediately when it was opened by a Black man carrying a handgun pointed downward, a killing the family denounced as “unjustifiable.”
Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden presented the video hours after the family of U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Roger Fortson and their attorneys held a news conference in which they disputed that the deputy acted in self-defense. Aden rejected assertions made by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Fortson's family, that the deputy had gone to the wrong apartment, covered the door's peephole and did not announce himself. |

House Democrats in Colorado have been on a gun control free for all, treading down the God given rights of Coloradans. However, the Colorado House Dems have jumped the shark and passed a semi-automatic gun ban, so now they are facing opposition from a coalition of Colorado Senate Republicans and Democrats slowing their gun grab extravaganza.
I have said this before, but it bears repeating, the ATF is nothing more than a lawless political arm of the security state and the gun control lobby. They create rules to bankrupt free Americans who deign to live freely and within their God given rights to buy, sell, keep, and bear arms. The pistol brace rule is a prime example.

Heritage Manufacturing are expanding their line of lever action firearms with the introduction of the Range Side series. These new lever guns are chambered in 410 Bore which should mean they are shotguns but Heritage Manufacturing call them rifles, so maybe these are slug guns? Gun sales have been on the decline so far in 2024, at least based on the FBI’s firearm background checks figures. Those figures, however, may soon change as the “gun show loophole” is closed. The Biden administration finalized in April a rule requiring online and gun show firearm sellers to conduct background checks. The rule, which will classify around 23,000 vendors as licensed firearms dealers, was to go into effect in May, and it will be interesting to see how it might affect background check numbers going forward. |

Fake mass-shooting data has infected the medical community for awhile now, and the infection is spreading. As soon as one anti-gun doctor publishes flawed research, another like-minded physician will piggyback on the previous study. It’s almost like the children’s telephone game, because the final message is always pretty far from the truth.
Too many health care professionals see their role as anti-gun advocates rather than primary care providers. They want to gaslight the public into believing firearms constitute a public health crisis, so they can quiz their patents about gun ownership in the hopes they can guilt them into relinquishing their guns. |
