"New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has moved from outrage to atrocity ... by asking anti-gun activist federal Judge Jack B. Weinstein to ban any reference to the Second Amendment during a civil lawsuit ... against Georgia gun dealer Jay Wallace, proprietor at Adventure Outdoors."
"The New York Sun reported that Bloomberg's attorneys made the request. Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, said the move clearly shows that Bloomberg has 'total disregard not only for the Second Amendment, but also the First.'"
"Bloomberg's attorney ... has reportedly argued in a brief that 'Any references to the Second Amendment or analogous state constitutional provisions are likewise irrelevant' to the upcoming trial." ... |

... "An insurrection, in case your English is a little rusty, is an act or instance of rebelling or revolting against civil authority or an established government. An insurrectionist is a person who promotes or takes part in an insurrection. You know, like the monarchy of King George III was an established government and the Founders were the principal insurrectionists against its tyranny. King George wished for a 'monopoly of force' against the colonists. The colonists, being free men, declined to give it to him, and they in turn, gave us a Constitution that ensured their descendants would have the same opportunity." ... |

"Earlier this year, the government tried and convicted David Olofson on the charge of transferring a machine gun. The Army veteran, Army reservist, husband and father of three contended that his gun was not a machine gun but simply a more than 20-year-old rifle that misfired. But instead of ordering him to repair the rifle, the government took Olofson to court."
"... His sentencing is on hold thanks to a defense motion to gain access to a government memo. The [BATFE] memo was not admitted at trial, but it may be what Olofson needs to be exonorated ... "Since the Supreme Court seems to agree that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms, gun haters are trying a different tactic."
"They want to ban lead bullets on the false premise that they’re a public health hazard and also hazardous to endangered bird species, like the California condor."
"A joint news release from the American Bird Conservancy and the Peregrine Fund noted that studies of several bird species have provided 'extensive documentation' of the health hazard posed to birds that ingest lead ammunition residues in the remains of gun-killed animals."

"The majority of the concealed carry handguns I review are mid- to full-size semiautomatics. However, many shooters rely on much smaller, concealable weapons for self-defense. And why not? After all, lugging around a full-size gun day in and day out can be a drag. And who wants to go to all the trouble of strapping on a full-size gun when they go jogging or run to the store for a loaf of bread?"
"I wear a 1911 on a daily basis. However, when I have to run a quick errand or go for my evening run, my old Smith & Wesson 642 is the gun I am most likely to drop in my pocket or fanny pack. ... The Sangamon County Board is not going to vote on a resolution that asks Governor Rod Blagojevich and state lawmakers to abstain from adding any more gun laws to the books in Illinois.
Ryan McCrady is the board's administrator. He says no members of the board want to sponsor the resolution because they have no jurisdiction over gun-rights questions.
Matthew Roberts of Springfield wanted the board to consider "Resolution Pro2A." The name refers to the Second Amendment to the Constitution.
Roberts says his group believes gun control doesn't work and wants to send that message to politicians.
Roberts says his group is all-volunteer and not affiliated with any other organization. |
